Role SummaryThe Cybersecurity Technical Specialist is a mid-level individual contributor role within Group Technology, reporting to the Director, Infrastructure. This individual is responsible for optimizing the organization's security posture across endpoint, network, cloud, and identity domains, as well as responding to security incidents, and working with external providers. The role requires a hands-on, detail-oriented professional with 5-7 years of progressional experience who can operate effectively within a lean team.
Location: Houston, Texas (preferable) or Remote, US
Remote Options: This role will be on a hybrid work arrangement, 3 days a week in the office and 2 days at home.
What You'll be DoingSecurity Technology
- Guide the design of security-related tool implementation, architectures and standards
- Hands-on administration of security tools and other technology
- Serve as primary security point of contact for outsourced providers, ensuring priorities are clear and deliverables are met
- Guide the ongoing refinement of security policies and standards
- Review and validate work products from providers
- Participate in regular provider service reviews and contribute to performance assessments
- Ensure providers operate in alignment with Anuvu's security policies, standards, and compliance requirements.
Security Monitoring & Threat Detection
- Work with providers to ensure that security posture is monitored and managed, including anomalies, alerts, and indicators of compromise
- Triage and investigate security events in line with the incident response framework
- Maintain awareness of the current threat landscape and apply relevant intelligence to detection and response activities
Vulnerability Management
- Work with providers to ensure regular vulnerability scans across endpoints, servers, and cloud infrastructure.
- Plan and track projects and programs needed to improve security posture based on Penetration Testing findings and company cyber security standards
- Maintain accurate records of vulnerability status
- Support penetration testing activities coordinated with external vendors
- Contribute to internal security audits and assessments, including evidence collection and control testing
Incident Response Support
- Participate in incident response activities, including containment, investigation, and evidence collection
- Document incident timelines, findings, and contributing factors in support of root cause analysis
- Assist with post-incident review preparation and track corrective actions through to closure
- Maintain and update incident response processes and standards
Access Controls & Identity Security
- Support administration and review of identity and access management (IAM) policies and controls.
- Conduct periodic access reviews and enforce least-privilege principles across systems and platforms.
- Assist with the management of privileged access and MFA enforcement.
Security Awareness & Vendor Coordination
- Lead security awareness initiatives, including team member training
- Liaise with the MSP and external security vendors on day-to-day security operational matters
- Other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking ForExperience & Qualifications
- 5-7 years of professional experience and 2-3 years of information security experience
- Hands-on experience with SOC, SIEM, EDR, and related information security processes and standards
- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, VPNs) and endpoint security
- Familiarity with cloud security principles, particularly AWS
- Participation in incident response processes, including RCA
- Awareness of one or more security frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST CSF, or Cyber Essentials
- Relevant certifications preferred (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CEH, GCIH, or equivalent)

- Ability to communicate security findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Self-starter who can manage multiple simultaneous initiatives and make recommendations to leadership based on experience
