Job Description

General Summary:

Primarily performs exams in Computed Tomography (CT). Ensures quality standards are met and promotes continuous quality improvement. Maintains current knowledge of CT technology and equipment as applicable. Demonstrates excellent communication and customer service skills. Acts as a knowledge resource for students, technologists, and others.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Performs CT imaging procedures according to department standard in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Produces examinations that meet image quality standards. Submits images for physician interpretation. CT exams include angiography, cardiac, cystogram, DE, FLASH, & photon scanning in addition to routine body, neuro, & MSK. Performs routine 3D rotate/tumble post processing as needed. Will include imaging both with & without contrast.
  • Verifies accuracy of patient demographic information, pertinent clinical diagnosis, and required technical results. Data must be entered accurately and in a timely fashion to provide optimal patient care.
  • Verifies all technical data entry components are complete prior to the end of shift which includes contrast documentation in EPIC and PACs verification/QA.
  • Serves as the patient flow coordinator when assigned.
  • Actively participates in a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. Works closely with nurses and physicians to achieve positive outcomes and optimal patient flow.
  • Is knowledgeable of process for, and can perform as needed, modality-specific quality control procedures.
  • Meets age-specific competency standards.
  • Adheres to radiation safety procedures as described in the radiation safety program.
  • Performs job functions while modeling service principles with customer service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients, families, co-workers, and others.
  • Abides by, and maintains a working knowledge of, institutional policies, IEMA regulations, and The Joint Commission (TJC) patient safety goals and guidelines.
  • Other job functions as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in XR is required at the time of hire. ARRT certification in CT is required within one year of hire. Certification must be maintained throughout employment. ARRT(CT) preferred at time of hire.
  • Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) licensure required at time of hire and must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Basic Life Support (CPR) Certification required.
  • Two years of XR experience is preferred.
  • Excellent communication/listening skills, bilingual helpful.
  • Experience with GE and Siemen's CT scanners is preferred.
  • Ability to make quick, accurate decisions daily. Ability to handle stressful situations in an acute care, level 1 trauma center.
  • Operates a personal computer, which includes Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and other department specific software such as EPIC, PACS, and Workday is required.
  • Ability to move up to 20 lbs. on a regular basis. Ability to move patients, and equipment, on a regular basis.

(BLS) - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association, (RT-CT-ARRT) - Registered Technologist in Computed Tomography - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, (RT-R-ARRT) - Registered Technologist in Radiography - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists

Pay Range
$40.00-$66.00 Hourly
