Project Overview:The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fuelling unprecedented demand for data centres that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team have signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas fired power generation facilities in the U.S. The candidate will act as the CSU Automation Lead on the Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Project in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Job Summary:The CSU Automation Lead assists the Commissioning Manager in managing and supervising the CSU activities at the project. The individual is responsible for the startup, commissioning, and initial operation of the Automation systems at the project. The lead will be responsible for managing CSU's Automation systems. This will require coordinating with mechanical, instrumentation and control systems disciplines and other functional departments to complete all required testing from component level through integrated operation with the rest of the facility.
Major Responsibilities:- Utilise digital solutions to complete CSU workflows.
- Administer SQL Server and Oracle databases.
- Ability to create, edit and develop SQL queries, Power Apps and Power BI reports in support of CSU activities.
- Coordinates, as directed, with project management, the startup related engineering, construction, and client activities as an office assignment or during startup, operations, maintenance or testing at the jobsite.
- Sets up progress reporting framework for scope area, and reviews on an ongoing basis with team, taking proactive course corrections as necessary.
- Provides technical advice and counsel on specific assignments by providing the resolution of technical questions arising in the area of specialty.
- Preparation of system testing and turnover documentation.
- Applies knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, and design criteria pertinent to utility scale Automation systems.
- Uses well developed interpersonal skills to interact closely and frequently with client management and operations and maintenance personnel.
Education and Experience Requirements:- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:- Relevant experience in delivering large-scale combined cycle power projects.
- Broad working knowledge of industry and regulatory standards and facilities' operations criteria pertinent to the activities supervised.
- Knowledge and experience with commissioning behind the meter power generation is preferred. Integration of power facilities in a data centre environment is preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of administrative practices including cost and scheduling.
- Ability to work effectively in leading in a team environment, motivating and supporting others.
- Demonstrated expert understanding of CSU core processes and procedures.
- Technical and practical comprehension of engineering, procurement, and construction functions and general business techniques.
- Excellent skill in oral and written communication with demonstrated skill to present CSU information to management and client.
