Department Summary:

The Cyber Engineering Division applies threat informed expertise in cyber security and information system engineering to enhance the security of the Nations cyber systems. The Cyber Resiliency and Cross-Domain Solutions Department is the home of Cross Domain Solutions and Engineering (CDS) technical capability area.

This technical capability area provides a critical mass of CDS expertise to support MITRE sponsors across all of Government.

For this role, you will be a Cross Domain Solutions and Engineering subject matter expert for on-site work at National Geospatial Intelligence Agency in Springfield Virginia.

Roles & Responsibilities:

The chosen candidate will be responsible for developing requirements, analyzing vendor products and alternatives, evaluating supporting architecture, engineering, and implementation design. Additionally responsible for engineering point to point and specific mission multi-level security and distributed filtering solutions. Supports ISP's and ASP's architecting and implementing supporting infrastructure design, metadata curation, ontologies, and wrapper development.

We are seeking an experienced CDS Engineer to support our sponsors. In this position the candidate will be required to:
  • Engage with CDS stakeholders in developing CDS requirements; identifying applicable file types, required transport protocols, and interfaces.
  • Perform Analysis of Alternatives with fact-based solution recommendations
  • Evaluate ISP architecture, engineering, implementation design
  • Identify tools, frameworks, and methods to integrate disparate structured and unstructured data sources
  • Engage with senior government staff on cross domain topics


Basic qualifications:
  • Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 8 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 5 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Documented success working with cross domain solutions
  • CDS SME that has experience with a variety of CDS Guards, Data Diodes, AWS Diode Service, and supporting architectures
  • Strong knowledge in file types, interfaces, ports and protocols, as well as file, socket, and stream filtering technologies
  • Proficient in XML & JSON schema creation, wrapper development, hardening, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with NCDSMO's Raise-the-Bar Compliance, Design Patterns, DCO, NIST SP800-53, ICD-503 and other US Govt Guidance
  • Current CISSP, CISM, CCSP, CISCO Security+ or related certification
  • Knowledgeable in CDUX, TDO and TDF
  • Superior customer engagement and communication skills to be able to work seamlessly across MITRE, government, and contractor teams
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to succinctly capture salient issues and provide seniors with fact based, actionable, and relevant technical solutions
  • Experience collaborating and coordinating with Intelligence Community cross domain community
  • Must have an active Top Secret/SCI/ Polygraph U.S Government issued Security Clearance. Per the U.S. Government's eligibility requirements, you must be a U.S Citizen to be considered for a security clearance.
  • Self-motivated and reliable as this position has 5 days a week on-site requirement


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in Cybersecurity or Information Assurance related field
  • Experience coding in python in a LINUX environment
  • Prior professional experience in DoD/IC risk management
  • Established relationship with the CDS community

Salary compensation range and midpoint:
$172,800 - $216,000 - $259,200 Annual
