Description

The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is an advanced practice registered nurse responsible for delivering safe, high-quality anesthesia care across the perioperative continuum. This role functions independently and/or in collaboration with anesthesiologists and other healthcare professionals to administer anesthesia services consistent with regulatory standards, organizational policies, and evidence-based practice.

This position primarily supports the [insert specialty] service line and may involve care of patients with varying acuity levels depending on case mix.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities
• Perform comprehensive pre-anesthetic assessments, including review of medical history, physical examinations, and diagnostic data.
• Develop and implement individualized anesthesia care plans tailored to patient needs and [specialty-specific procedures].
• Administer general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care (MAC) as appropriate.
• Manage airway, ventilation, cardiovascular support, and hemodynamic stability during procedures.
• Continuously monitor patient status and interpret physiological data throughout the intraoperative period.
• Provide safe emergence from anesthesia and post-anesthesia care, including pain and nausea management.
• Respond to anesthesia-related emergencies and initiate resuscitative measures as needed.

Specialty-Specific Responsibilities
• Provide anesthesia services for [describe specialty cases, e.g., obstetric, cardiac, pediatric, orthopedic, pain management procedures].
• Collaborate with surgeons and proceduralists to optimize anesthesia techniques related to [specialty].
• Maintain competency in specialty-specific equipment, techniques, and protocols.
Quality, Safety, and Compliance
  • Practice in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as AANA standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, morbidity and mortality reviews, and clinical audits.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA standards.
Professional Collaboration
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team
  • members.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, education, and orientation of staff as needed.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to anesthesia staff or students when applicable.
Minimum Qualifications
• Current CRNA certification through NBCRNA
• Active and unrestricted RN or APRN license in TN
• Graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia program
• BLS, ACS certified
• Additional certification required depending on specialty
• Eligibility for hospital privileges and credentialing
Preferred Qualifications
