Full Job Description
Position Summary

The Critical Facilities Engineer III serves as a senior-level contributor within the site-level Data Center Operations team, reporting directly to the Manager of Engineering Operations. This role is responsible for overseeing the performance, maintenance, and reliability of mission-critical infrastructure across one or more data center facilities. The Engineer III brings deep expertise in either electrical or mechanical systems and is expected to demonstrate working proficiency in complementary disciplines. This position plays a key role in executing and refining operational procedures, supporting change management, and ensuring compliance with Salute's standards for safety, uptime, and service excellence.

Responsibilities
• Maintain and operate all mission-critical systems, including UPS, HVAC, generators, fire/life safety, BMS, and CMMS platforms, in accordance with Salute's engineering protocols.
• Interpret and apply site-specific system one-lines, equipment nomenclature, and layout drawings to support accurate diagnostics and maintenance.
• Execute and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs), and Sequence of Operations (SOOs) to ensure operational readiness.
• Monitor and respond to BMS alarms, extract trend data, and escalate issues per Salute's incident management framework.
• Create, edit, and close change management work orders and incident reports using the CMMS platform.
• Conduct routine inspections and rounds to identify anomalies and ensure compliance with Salute's Maintenance and Operations Standards.
• Lead or support low-risk maintenance activities, including the development and execution of Method of Procedures (MOPs).
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical issues independently, escalating as needed.
• Supervise construction activities and vendor installations to ensure alignment with site protocols and safety standards.
• Support internal and external audits, including SSAE16, SOC2, ISO 27001, and other accreditation initiatives.
• Maintain awareness of customer-specific operational requirements and contribute to a culture of service excellence.
• Complete Salute's Critical Awareness Training and adhere to Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety standards.
• Assist in site specific Training and Job Shadowing of Critical Facilities Engineer I and II to ensure proper development

Qualifications
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mission-critical facility operations or equivalent technical roles involving UPS, HVAC, generators, and fire/life safety systems.
• Proficiency in either electrical or mechanical systems, with demonstrated competence in the complementary discipline.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure redundancy models (N+1, 2N, ATS/STS) and associated risk mitigation strategies.
• Familiarity with energy efficiency principles and their application in data center environments.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; working knowledge of Microsoft Project, Adobe Acrobat, Visio, or AutoCAD is preferred.
• Experience with CMMS, DCIM, and power metering systems.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to respond effectively to complex issues and customer needs.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 40 pounds, working under raised floors, and climbing ladders up to 16 feet.

Compensation & Benefits Disclosure

The base salary range for this role is $53-$57/hour. This range reflects a good-faith estimate of what we reasonably expect to pay upon hire, based on factors such as skills, experience, education, and market/location. Our comprehensive benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, Health Savings Account (HSA), gym discount, mental health, Discounted Group Life & AD&D, Discounted Group Short & Long-term Disability, 401(k) retirement matching, PTO/paid holidays, and parental leave. Final compensation will be determined by job-related factors consistent with applicable law.
