About the RoleBedrock is looking for a
Creative and Editorial Lead to build the storytelling engine behind our brand. Working closely with Bedrock's brand, communications, and marketing leaders, you'll set the editorial direction and quality bar for everything we publish. You'll turn customer proof, technical progress, and stories from the field into compelling editorial content, video, and digital campaigns that establish Bedrock as a defining voice in autonomous construction and physical AI.
This is a senior, hands-on role for a seasoned creative generalist who can write and edit high-stakes work, uncover stories worth telling, develop original concepts, and guide creative teams from initial idea through final delivery. You'll build the standards, workflows, and production capabilities that enable us to deliver high-quality work at high volume and grow our in-house creative and editorial studio. Alongside our communications strategists and PR agency, you'll ensure those stories reach further and strengthen Bedrock's presence in the market.
Key Responsibilities- Own Bedrock's editorial strategy, storytelling pipeline, publishing cadence, and quality bar across all owned public channels and formats.
- Create a high-volume, high-quality stream of work that materially expands Bedrock's public presence, brand awareness, trust, and category leadership.
- Personally write, edit, interview, develop concepts, and bring a meaningful share of Bedrock's early editorial and creative work to completion.
- Develop clear editorial standards, writing guidance, review criteria, production practices, and workflows that ensure Bedrock's work is consistently on brand and distinctive
- Own the creative and editorial direction for customer testimonials, case studies, web and blog content, technical explainers, white papers, executive thought leadership, presentations and keynotes, social content, video, campaigns, and other high-visibility brand moments.
- Translate complicated technical ideas into clear, memorable, and persuasive narratives without flattening their intelligence or relying on generic technology marketing language.
- Develop recurring editorial franchises and signature formats that create a sustained, recognizable Bedrock presence-such as customer field stories, technical explainers, documentary-style content, and original perspectives on construction and physical AI.
- Use market, audience, and competitive insight from the Insights function to prioritize story opportunities, editorial formats, campaigns, and creative work.
- Lead external agencies, freelance writers, designers, photographers, filmmakers, producers, and specialist partners from briefing through final delivery.
- Over time, build and lead a lean internal newsroom and creative studio, likely including writers and editors, a producer, and a flexible bench of freelance writers, photographers, filmmakers, designers, illustrators, and specialist agencies.
- Travel periodically to customer sites, active jobsites, production shoots, and selected industry moments to uncover stories firsthand, direct creative work in the field, and ensure Bedrock's storytelling remains grounded in the reality of construction.
What we're looking for- 8+ years of experience in editorial, creative direction, brand writing, content strategy, journalism, media, agency creative, entertainment, digital production, or a comparable storytelling discipline.
- A strategic creative generalist who can connect audience insights, business priorities, customer evidence, and cultural relevance into work that earns attention and changes perception.
- Demonstrated ability to turn complicated, unfamiliar, or technical material into clear, surprising, credible, and compelling stories.
- The ability to learn complex subjects quickly, ask strong questions, and earn credibility with contractors, field crews, technical teams, customers, and company leaders.
- Experience guiding creative work across multiple formats and channels, including the ability to develop concepts, write strong briefs, give clear feedback, manage production, and direct agencies or freelancers toward a high-quality final product.
- A hands-on orientation. You enjoy doing the work, and are prepared to write, edit, interview, shape, and ship important work yourself.
- Strong project leadership and operational discipline. You can manage multiple workstreams, create useful structure from ambiguity, and keep high-quality work moving from start to finish.
- A collaborative, low-ego working style.
- A portfolio is helpful but not required. Relevant work may include editorial writing, brand and campaign work, customer storytelling, executive narratives, journalism, video, documentary, television, digital media, or creative-production leadership.
