Position Overview

Power Your Future with Qualus in our Program Management department as a Cost Analyst. As a Cost Analyst you will be responsible for assembling and providing information to Project Managers and Operations Management within their assigned Business Units regarding project current costs, commitments, and forecasts according to strict deadlines. Responsible for cost/budget control and invoice control for the project. 5-10 years experience. The Cost Analyst supports the development of transmission capital projects by providing accurate early-phase cost estimates and financial forecasting. The role contributes to the Shovel-Ready Initiative by ensuring reliable cost profiles for transmission asset-condition projects advancing toward construction readiness.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and refine early phase forecasts for transmission projects
  • Forecast development stage spending and capital plan impacts
  • Manage and coordination work order status throughout the lifecycle of the shelf-project development.
  • Evaluate cost risks related to design development, permitting, and long lead materials
  • Support financial models and cost histories that improve capital planning accuracy

 

 

  

Minimum Qualifications
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced data analysis, financial modeling, and reporting capabilities.
  • Experience with utility capital investment business models is preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated financial management experience, including:
    • Cash flow forecasting and management for capital projects, including both internal labor and contractor-supported work.
    • Purchase Order (PO) financial tracking and oversight.
    • Financial risk assessment and mitigation to support achievement of investment objectives.
    • Capital portfolio financial planning, monitoring, and performance management.
    • Identification, evaluation, and communication of financial risks and opportunities.
  • Strong data management, analysis, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex information into actionable insights.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams, particularly between Project Management and Financial Management organizations.
  • Experience preparing and delivering executive and leadership-level reporting, including financial performance, portfolio status, risks, and investment outcomes.
