Position Description

Would you like to build your career with a collaborative, diverse, and dynamic mining company? Nevada Gold Mines has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer at our Cortez operation.

Responsibilities
  • Execute aspects of small- and medium-sized projects, including project planning, justification, engineering, design, and implementation.
  • Develop project cost estimates and forecasts.
  • Provide engineering and design input to consultants and contractors.
  • Coordinate with internal Nevada Gold Mines teams throughout the planning, design, construction, and commissioning of wells and related infrastructure.
  • Communicate regularly with Operations, Environmental, Safety, Project Sponsors, and other stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Assist with the procurement of equipment, materials, supplies, and contracts.
  • Ensure projects are designed and constructed with safety as the highest priority and in accordance with applicable standards and requirements.
  • Provide technical input for the Annual Environmental Report submitted to the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP).
  • Perform pump sizing and selection for booster and downhole pump applications.
  • Perform transformer sizing and support electrical equipment requirements associated with projects.
  • Design and size pipelines and associated process systems.
  • Analyze and report project and operational data to management.
  • Support telemetry projects, including system installation, data collection, and data output.
  • Support automation and instrumentation projects to improve process monitoring, control, and system performance.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues and recommend engineering solutions to improve reliability, efficiency, and performance.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Mining, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline; equivalent relevant engineering experience may be considered.
  • Experience or demonstrated knowledge in pump system design, pipeline design, and/or industrial process systems is preferred.
  • Knowledge of project management principles, including experience coordinating projects, contractors, consultants, and contracts, is preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of measurement, instrumentation, and control systems, including the ability to monitor and regulate temperature, pressure, level, and flow in industrial processes, is preferred.
  • Experience with calibration, alignment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation such as pressure and flow transmitters; ability to use data analysis and diagnostics to improve system performance is preferred.
  • Familiarity with telemetry, automation, and process control systems, including installation, data collection, real-time monitoring, and integration of instrumentation into automation networks, is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required; proficiency with AutoCAD is preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment and demonstrated ability to safely and effectively perform the essential functions of the position are required.
