The Corporate Trade Manager is responsible for leading all U.S. import/export customs and trade compliance programs, with a primary focus on U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) requirements. This role serves as a subject matter expert (SME) for trade compliance, including—but not limited to—the application of Free Trade Agreements (e.g., USMCA), Section 232, Section 301, and IEEPA tariffs, as well as U.S. border security initiatives (e.g., CTPAT).

Core responsibilities include managing import and export processes, mitigating tariff exposure, ensuring documentation accuracy, and supporting global trade compliance initiatives. The role also entails identifying compliance risks, implementing controls, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders through training and advisory support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain import and export compliance programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable trade laws, regulations, and statutes across all business units and functions.
  • Make sound compliance decisions and take corrective action in ambiguous, fast-paced, and evolving regulatory environments.
  • Compile and analyze trade and tariff-related data and serve as the primary point of contact for the Versigent executive leadership team on tariff exposure and impact.
  • Identify and maximize duty-savings opportunities through Free Trade Agreements, Special Trade Programs, HTSUS 9801/9802 provisions, and duty drawback programs, where applicable.
  • Serve as the SME for Section 122, Section 232, Section 301, and IEEPA tariffs, providing clear impact assessments to senior management and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Support cross-functional teams with duty-impact analyses to inform sourcing strategies and landed cost calculations.
  • Provide reporting and analytical support for Compliance team initiatives using ACE reports and ad hoc reports from customs brokers.
  • Support and lead the implementation of automation tools and compliance systems to improve efficiency and ensure timely fulfillment of trade and documentation requirements.
  • Oversee and monitor international imports and customs entries, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, air freight documentation, and ocean freight handling procedures.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable U.S. government programs and regulatory requirements.
  • Design, implement, and maintain internal programs to ensure Versigent remains in good standing with CBP as a low-risk importer/exporter.
  • Develop and deliver trade compliance training to relevant internal stakeholders across the organization.
  • Support internal and external audits of import, export, and re-export transactions, including:
    • Procedural adherence
    • Classification, valuation, and country of origin
    • Assists and price reconciliation
    • Licensing requirements
    • Free Trade Agreement qualification
    • Recordkeeping, marking, labeling, and statistical reporting
  • Assist with the setup and management of Temporary Import Bonds (TIBs) and/or ATA Carnets to facilitate duty-free cross-border movement of goods.
  • Provide guidance on international shipping requirements, including appropriate use of Incoterms.
  • Develop, monitor, and report on trade compliance KPIs and performance metrics.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
