Who you are

Metropolis is seeking a Corporate Counsel to support our Senior Counsel in delivering comprehensive legal guidance across our business regions. In this role, you will serve as a proactive and trusted partner to Revenue and Operations teams, drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, mitigating risk, and developing strategies that align with our cutting-edge technology and urban mobility solutions. You are an eager, ambitious, and collaborative legal professional who excels in fast-paced environments, bringing strong transactional expertise and practical problem-solving skills to help advance our strategic goals.
What you'll do
  • Support the Senior Counsel in providing comprehensive legal support to one or more business regions or practice groups
  • Support the Senior Counsel in acting as a proactive and trusted business partner, assisting stakeholders with a wide variety of contract-related issues, compliance matters, and risk assessments
  • Work closely with business teams and the Senior Counsel to help develop and execute legal strategies that protect and advance the company's operations
  • Develop a deep understanding of our cutting-edge technology business and the broader urban mobility industry
  • Draft, review, and support the negotiation of a broad range of commercial contracts, including software as a service (SaaS) agreements, client agreements, procurement agreements, information technology agreements, government contracts, commercial leasing agreements, and consulting agreements
  • Adopt and champion the use of AI tools to drive efficiencies and reduce redundant tasks across the legal team's workflows
  • Support the coordination of business disputes and assist in managing outside counsel as needed
  • Provide essential support to the Senior Counsel and other attorneys within the department
What we're looking for
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active license or eligibility to practice law in Illinois or Tennessee
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in a corporate law department or a business/transactional practice group at a law firm
  • Experience with a variety of commercial contracts, including management, operating, technology, and procurement agreements
  • Proven ability to adopt and champion AI tools to transform static workflows into responsive, high-output processes
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritize multiple tasks, and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong transactional and legal writing skills
  • Strong practical decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to quickly identify and grasp complex legal issues and communicate key issues clearly and concisely to colleagues and business partners
While not required, these are a plus:
  • Experience drafting and negotiating Software as a Service (SaaS) contracts
  • Commercial leasing experience
  • Prior in-house legal department experience

The anticipated base salary for this position is $140,000.00 USD to $160,000.00 USD annually. The actual base salary offered is determined by a number of variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, years of relevant experience, distinctive skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location of residence and/or place of employment. Base salary is one component of Metropolis' total compensation package, which may also include access to or eligibility for healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a lucrative stock option plan, bonus plans, and more. #LI-WT1 #LI-Onsite
