Amazon's Content Policy Legal Team is looking for a talented attorney to advise on global content policy and online safety across Amazon's products and services.
In this role, you will track and interpret new and evolving content policy legislation, advise Amazon services on compliance strategies, and partner with product counsel and business teams to implement practical solutions. You will develop strategies for handling legal issues in creative, customer-centric ways and build scalable processes that address risk while allowing the business to move quickly.
The successful candidate combines strong legal judgment with practical experience in content moderation, trust and safety, or regulatory compliance in the technology industry. You should demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations, be enthusiastic about the intersection of law and technology, and thrive working across organizational boundaries.
Key job responsibilities
• Tracking and analyzing content policy and online safety legislation; assessing impact to Amazon services and developing compliance strategies.
• Partnering with product counsel and business teams to implement regulatory requirements, advising on content moderation policies, risk assessments, and operational controls.
• Advising Amazon services on content policies and compliance frameworks, and developing scalable guidance, playbooks, and resources for business teams, including building and implementing practical solutions and tools, including AI tools.
• Supporting cross-Amazon policy initiatives, working with public policy, public relations, and business leadership to align positions on emerging trust and safety issues.
A day in the life
In a typical day you might interpret a newly introduced online safety bill and assess which Amazon services are affected, meet with a product team to advise on compliance controls for a content moderation workflow, draft a position document on an emerging regulatory issue for business and public policy stakeholders, and collaborate with legal colleagues across jurisdictions to align on a cross-Amazon compliance approach. You will work across many teams and many threads simultaneously-the pace is fast and the issues are novel.
About the team
The Content Policy Legal Team is a small, high-impact group that provides subject matter expertise on content moderation, online safety, and trust and safety law across all of Amazon. We advise dozens of services on content policy strategy, compliance, and risk mitigation-from child safety and harmful content to AI-generated content and emerging regulatory frameworks. We work collaboratively with product counsel, public policy, and business leaders to develop practical, scalable solutions to some of the most complex legal questions in technology. Our team values intellectual curiosity, high judgment, and the ability to translate rapidly evolving law into clear, actionable guidance.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of legal experience
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
- Can show strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities and operate with high judgment in ambiguous, fast-paced environments
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working closely with and advising senior executives of an organization or equivalent
- Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work
- Experience with online safety, content moderation, or trust and safety law, including regulatory compliance programs, risk assessments, or subject matter depth in areas such as child safety or AI-generated content
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
