Full Job Description

Role Overview

PIMCO is seeking a senior Core Operations leader to own and define the future‑state global back office operating model across asset classes and regions. This role is accountable for designing standardized workflows, ownership boundaries, and control frameworks governing the back-office controls, as the firm advances its IBOR technology and vendor integration.

This position builds on deep expertise in portfolio accounting/IBOR, reconciliation, and oversight of outsourced vendors. The role operates as a day-to-day manager as well as a senior design authority and strategic partner, focused on workflow design, testing, and incorporation of current industry best practices into PIMCO’s target operating model.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end back office control function for TFO, with ownership of daily reconciliation oversight, exception management, break investigation, and timely resolution across positions, cash, transactions, tax lots, P&L, and related investment data domains.

  • Identify recurring reconciliation themes, drive root-cause analysis, and partner with Middle Office, Corporate Actions, Treasury, Performance, Fund Accounting, Technology, and external service providers to eliminate repeat breaks and strengthen the operating model.

  • Oversee outsourced back office service providers, including day-to-day governance, KPI / SLA management, issue escalation, service quality review, and integration of provider workflows into the new IBOR operating model.

  • Own the design and implementation of IBOR reconciliation controls, including match criteria, tolerance thresholds, exception routing, aging standards, control evidence, and escalation protocols.

  • Establish consistent standards for daily reconciliations, control execution, break prioritization, and issue documentation, ensuring accountability across internal teams and external providers.

  • Develop and deliver executive-level metrics, dashboards, and commentary for senior management.

  • Coordinate the transition and handoff of investment data outputs to Fund Accounting, ensuring clear ownership, documented controls, and alignment between IBOR, accounting, custody, and downstream reporting processes.

  • Partner with transformation and technology teams to define target-state workflows, support implementation of reconciliation tooling, validate new data outputs, and ensure operational readiness for migration to the future IBOR platform.

  • Establish and maintain industry best-in-class procedures, control documentation, operating playbooks, and governance routines to support auditability, resiliency, and consistent execution across the back-office function.

  • Ability to create, grow, and establish a Core Operations team, including defining roles, building capabilities, setting operating standards, and developing scalable team routines.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in back office and reconciliations within asset management or investment banking.

  • Deep experience across multiple asset classes, including derivatives (OTC and listed), fixed income, and cash products.

  • Strong understanding of IBOR transactions and impacts to cash, positions, P&L, performance, and fund accounting.

  • Demonstrated experience defining or governing operating models and control frameworks.

  • Proven ability to partner with Technology teams on workflow design, testing, and platform transformations.

  • Effective communication and management skills.

PIMCO follows a total compensation approach when rewarding employees which includes a base salary and a discretionary bonus. Base salary is the fixed component of compensation that is determined by core job responsibilities, relevant experience, internal level, and market factors. The discretionary bonus is used to award performance and therefore is determined by company, business, team, and individual performance.

Salary Range: $ 215,000.00 - $ 260,000.00
