Position: Automation Controls Technician II

Shift: 1st (7am-3pm or 9am-5pm)

Who We Want:

We are hiring for an Automation Controls Technician II. The ideal candidate should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, effective interpersonal and teamwork skills, ability to work cross functionally and ability to resolve problems in a positive manner.

What You Need to Have:
• Associate Degree or equivalent experience in Industrial Automation Technology and/or Electrical/Mechanical preferred.
5+ years of experience working in a related position. Machine troubleshooting/process control and basic CAD exposure beneficial. Additional relevant training preferred, particularly mechanical training.
• Prior experience working in the printing, paper production or paper converting industries preferred.
• Valid driver's license.
• Understanding of AC and DC drives and controls.
• Knowledge of PLC, HMI and associate software suites specifically Allen-Bradley and Siemens.
• Understanding of pneumatics and hydraulics.
• Understanding of single and three phase wiring.
• Ability to read and interpret engineer documents such as diagrams, manuals, machine schematics, etc.
• Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools.
• Understanding of moving and rigging heavy loads with forklifts.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs, preferably in Excel.
• Ability to effectively identify mechanical and/or electrical problems as they occur and take corrective actions.
• Be willing to acquire a good understanding of how all production facilities function.

How you contribute as a team member:
• Provides efficient and timely day-to-day technical support and related tasks with complex electronic systems and equipment including but not limited to
• Diagnoses and repairs complex electronic control system and/or nonfunctioning production assets when required.
• Perform electrical troubleshooting of instruments, drive systems and control hardware, utilizing as needed electrical test equipment and wiring diagrams.
• Perform basic PLC programing modifications and upgrades with minimal production disruption.
• Be available by phone for all controls related troubleshooting. It is expected that on-call duty will be shared, as equally as possible, by all Technicians.
• Work in conjunction with other Maintenance Technicians and Operations Leaders to order parts and supplies.
• Responsible for following all company safety rules and guidelines.
• Strive for Manufacturing Excellence through continuous improvement projects including but not limited to:
• Engineer design and implement control systems for upgraded equipment and/or internally fabricated machines.
• Support in design and implement Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCAD) software.
• Assist the production team leaders with the assessment of maintenance activities and root cause analysis of equipment failures. Offer suggestions whenever possible.
• Maintains a safe work environment by adhering to all workplace safety regulations, standards, and practices.
