Controls Engineer- ON SITE📍 Adelanto, CA | 🕒 Full-Time | 🏭 Manufacturing | 🌐 EBARA HG
Do you enjoy seeing your work come to life-from the first schematic to a fully tested machine leaving the shop floor? We're looking for a Controls Engineer who wants true end-to-end ownership of control systems: scoping and estimating the job, designing the system, building and programming it, and proving it works before it ships to the customer.
This is a hands-on role for an engineer who is just as comfortable at a panel with a wire stripper as at a desk with AutoCAD. You'll work closely with sales, purchasing, production, and our customers, and your designs will directly shape the equipment we deliver.
What You'll Do- Turn customer process and equipment requirements into complete control-system designs
- Build controls scope and cost estimates for customer bids-materials, panel construction, programming, integration, and testing
- Select components and vendors, working with purchasing and suppliers on specs, pricing, and availability
- Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and assembly documentation
- Build and wire control panels yourself, or guide and verify the work of our shop team and outside suppliers
- Program PLCs and configure VFDs, HMIs, instrumentation, and communications
- Integrate controls with equipment, calibrate instruments, and run factory acceptance testing before shipment
- Maintain part numbers, BOMs, drawings, programs, and technical documentation in our ERP system
- Drive continuous improvement through engineering change requests and better design and assembly methods
- Support commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting-remotely or on site at customer locations
- Serve as our UL 508A Manufacturer Technical Representative (once qualified)
What You Bring- Diploma or degree in electrical/electronics engineering, engineering technology, automation, mechatronics, or a related field
- 2+ years designing and integrating equipment control systems in a manufacturing environment
- Hands-on experience building, wiring, and troubleshooting control panels
- PLC programming experience and the ability to configure VFDs, operator interfaces, and instrumentation
- Ability to prepare and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and bills of materials
- Experience preparing controls cost estimates, selecting components, and coordinating with vendors
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks (or other 2D/3D modeling software)
- Strong math skills, including geometry and trigonometry, and clear written and verbal communication in English
- A self-starter mindset with strong organization, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
Nice to Have- Current UL 508A Manufacturer Technical Representative qualification (or willingness to obtain it-we'll support you)
- Experience with SYSPRO or another ERP system
- Knowledge of rotating equipment
What We Offer- Competitive base salary with bonus potential, based on experience and qualifications
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits
- 401k plan with employer match
- Vacation pay, sick time, and statutory holiday pay
- End-to-end ownership of projects and a direct line to the Director of Engineering
- A mix of design, hands-on build, and customer-facing work-no two projects are the same
- Opportunity to work with a growing global company recognized for engineering excellence
Work Environment- Split between the office and the manufacturing floor, with regular shop-floor presence across shifts as needed
- Travel up to 5% for commissioning and customer support
- Occasional extended hours to meet project and delivery deadlines
- Physical work including standing, walking, stooping, lifting, carrying, and hands-on panel building and
