Position SummaryAs Controller at Plainville Farms, you are responsible for leading Plainville Farms finance and accounting functions, providing strategic and hands-on financial leadership, support, and counsel to the Company. As Controller, you will oversee financial accounting and reporting in accordance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements, as well as the FP&A function, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. The Controller provides leadership to the finance and accounting team by establishing priorities, assigning responsibilities, developing talent, monitoring performance, and driving continuous improvement across the function.
Essential Job Functions- Ensure the accuracy of existing product BOM's and cost standards, and timely completion of BOM's for new products resulting in accurate inventory and P&L reporting
- Manage fixed asset accounting and tracking vs. budget; ensure capital approval process is followed appropriately
- Provide financial support and guidance for new capital projects
- Manage and participate in monthly and year-end financial closing process for the Company
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly financial results, meeting deadlines assigned by The Wenger Group
- Analyze financial results vs. budget and prior year, and provide the leadership team with clear explanations on variances
- Recognize and communicate financial trends and offer potential solutions to senior leadership team to improve profitability
- Manage and oversee periodic physical inventories and reconciliation to the ERP system's perpetual counts
- Manage general and daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and processing of general ledger journal entries.
- Implement and enforce financial reporting and accounting procedures and schedules
- Establish and maintain internal controls which verify the integrity of all systems, processes, reporting, and data
- Drive the annual operating and capital budgeting and planning process, administer and review all financial plans and budgets, and monitor progress and changes to keep the senior leadership team abreast of the Company's financial status
- Manage periodic P&L reforecasting process
- Serve as accounting and finance lead on migration to new ERP system
- Manage the coordination and preparation of deliverables for the year-end external audit, and serve as main liaison with audit team on behalf of Company
- Respond to the VP of Finance as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate financial needs
- Perform special projects and other comparable and related duties as assigned
Education & Experience- Bachelor's degree in accounting, or finance with equivalent experience
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or MBA preferred
- Minimum of 5 years' financial management experience with demonstrated track record of financial accounting, standard costing, and FP&A experience, food/protein industry experience preferred
- Solid ERP system knowledge; Microsoft D365 preferred
- Excellent Excel and BI system/data manipulation experience required
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate and relate to people at all levels of the organization
- Strong technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus
- Ability to manage and develop staff
- Very organized and self-directed, able to successfully manage and execute multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
