Corporate Controller (Maternity Leave Coverage - Fixed-Term, Full-Time)
About the Role
Leap Inc. is seeking an experienced accounting leader to provide maternity leave coverage for our Corporate Controller from November 1, 2026 through May 31, 2027 (includes a 2-month overlap with the current Controller). Reporting to the EVP Commercial Strategy and Finance, this person will directly oversee a Senior Accountant and AP/AR Specialist while working closely with the FP&A team and our CEO.
This role is suited for an accounting professional with strong business acumen, excellent management skills, and deep knowledge of platforms like NetSuite, Ramp, and Excel. Given the fixed-term nature of this coverage, the ideal candidate can ramp up quickly, operate independently from day one, and ensure uninterrupted continuity across the accounting function.
Role Location
This role is based in New York City with an expectation to be in the office at least three days a week.
Core Responsibilities:
Accounting Operations & Financial Reporting:
- Directly oversee all aspects of the accounting function, including brand billing, month-end close, financial statement preparation, cash flow analysis, ERP (NetSuite) maintenance, Stock Option workflows (Carta), and internal accounting processes.
- Operate as a hands-on Controller within a lean team, directly preparing and reviewing key deliverables such as lease accounting, P&L review, bank reconciliations, bad debt expense, and revenue recognition (including deferred revenue).
- Ensure leases are paid on time and in full with proper accounting each month.
- Issue timely and accurate monthly financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
- Provide strategic insight and analysis on business performance, budgeting, and projections.
- Evaluate, streamline, and recommend improvements to financial systems, processes, and controls to drive operational efficiency.
- Investigate and resolve account discrepancies with efficiency and accuracy.
- Ensure proper internal controls are in place to support timely and accurate financial reporting while safeguarding corporate assets.
Team Leadership & Management:
- Directly oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting team, including AP, AR, brand billing, rent management, and month-end close.
- Foster strong internal relationships with cross-functional teams and communicate accounting strategy and priorities effectively.
- Maintain a positive, collaborative team environment and continue team development initiatives already underway.
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Handle all tax planning and compliance with required federal, state, local, payroll, property, and other taxes; prepare and coordinate tax schedules, returns, and information requests.
- Ensure compliance with filing deadlines, tax payments, and financial regulations.
- Manage insurance company relationships and ensure ongoing compliance.
- Manage all business administration and corporate registration filings to maintain state-by-state and federal good standing.
Candidate Requirements:
- CPA required.
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- NetSuite experience required.
- Lease accounting experience required.
- Must be based in the NYC area and able to work in-office 1-2 days per week for the duration of the coverage period.
- Deep proficiency in GAAP accounting and financial statement preparation, including month-end and year-end close processes.
- Proven experience managing teams and fostering strong internal and external relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to step into an existing function quickly and maintain continuity with minimal ramp-up time.

Salary Range Transparency:
$160,000 - $190,000 / year (Annualized for the 6-month contract) Compensation will be determined based on the candidate's experience, skills, competencies, and qualifications.
