Job Summary and QualificationsUnder the general supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller directs the financial activities coincidental with defined Hospital policies and objectives. Directs the preparation of Hospital statistical reports, budgets, financial reports and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Oversees the Information Systems Director and department.
What you will do in the role:1. Supportive of the ethics and compliance programs set forth by HCA demonstrated by:
a. Upholds code of conduct.
b. Adheres to dealing appropriately and fairly with employee misconduct.
c. Enforces all ethics and compliance education as they pertain to his/her area.
d. Provides and assures ethics and compliance education as requested by ECO and/or corporate initiative.
e. Sets an example to all staff in daily activities.
2. Responsible for training and evaluating staff on the overall code of conduct and specific policies and procedures that affect department specific responsibilities (examples may include but are not limited to PEPP, medical necessity, lab compliance, billing, and coding).
3. If an ethics and compliance issue is identified, takes appropriate action to correct and/or report any violation that he/she is aware of in the department or the facility.
4. Reviews transactions and makes recommendations regarding Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
5. Maintains general ledger and is responsible for monthly closing activities.
6. Prepares Capital and Operational budgets.
7. Supervises Logging and Cashiering Departments.
8. Supervises daily activities of the Accounting Department.
9. Assists in the determination of personnel requirements for the Accounting Department.
a. Assists in the formulation of individual positions required within the department with specification of personnel requirements for these positions.
b. Interviews applicants for all positions and makes recommendations for hiring in accordance with Human Resources Policies.
c. Makes recommendations for addition and deletion of particular positions within the department based on operational requirements.
d. Follows established Human Resources Policies for the evaluation, promotion, and termination of individual staff members.
10. Establishes and implements an ongoing program of orientation and ongoing training for personnel assigned to the Accounting Department.
11. Maintains all equipment and supplies required in the provision of departmental services in optimum operational status with procurement or replacement of equipment as needed.
12. Facilitates communication between the Accounting Department and other hospital departments to enhance services.
13. Maintains high degree of competency in the provision of department functions in order to provide appropriate supervision of personnel directly responsible for these functions.
14. Maintains all operational policies and procedures within the Department to
ensure the provision of efficient and effective functions and services.
15. Contributes to the development and implementation of the Strategic Plan as appropriate.
16. Supports physician partnership development between physician and service areas.
17. Assumes leadership role to enhance financial strength of Conroe Regional Medical Center.
18. Assures compliance with the completion of employee evaluation.
a. 95% evaluations completed within the timeline outlined in the policies. (Failure to meet criteria will have a direct effect of merit raises as formulated by Administration.)
19. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.

2. Utilizes specialized knowledge of procedures required in the provision of accounting services in the evaluation of personnel.
3. Utilizes knowledge of management principles in the provision of direction to personnel within the Department.

5. Utilizes all equipment in the Department effectively and safely with ability to train and supervise others in the use of this equipment.
6. Communicates effectively verbally and in writing to fulfill position responsibilities.

1. Maintains own professional growth through appropriate organizations, workshops, seminars, and other educational endeavors.
2. Encourages professional development of personnel in the Accounting Department.
3. Determines priorities for activities of self and other personnel in the Department based on current demands for service.
4. Maintains awareness of current trends/changes, regulations and legislation in the field.
5. Ensures that problems or concerns regarding the Accounting Department and other related areas are communicated with the CFO.
What qualifications you will need:- Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with emphasis on accounting.
- CPA license preferred.
- Experience in mainframe accounting systems and PC based systems.
- A minimum of three (3) years of healthcare experience with two (2) years in a supervisory capacity.
