DescriptionController- this is a full-time (40 hours) position, hybrid, located at our Vicente location in San Francisco.
**Please note, this position has an anticipated start date of February 2027.Position SummaryThis position is a key role in the organization and greatly impacts Agency goals and strategies. The Controller provides strategic and operational leadership for the Agency's accounting, reporting, internal controls, audit, tax, financial systems, and compliance functions. The position is responsible for the integrity and accuracy of financial information, leads and develops the accounting team, strengthens financial processes and controls, and serves as a key partner to organizational leadership.
Essential Functions• Provides leadership and direction to the accounting function and develops the accounting team in the following areas:
o Month-end and Year-end Close
o General Ledger
o Accounts Payable
o Revenue accounting
o Accounts Receivable and Collections
• Owns the integrity, accuracy, and timely delivery of monthly and annual financial reporting, including: Statement of Activities, Cash Flow and Statement of Position.
• Provides the underlying reports necessary for the issuance of monthly financial reporting for budget owners.
• Works collaboratively across departments to resolve issues and implement improvements for proper, accurate and timely reporting.
• Assist with the annual budget creation.
• Ensures appropriate controls are in place to meet all funding compliance objectives including upload and reconciliation of data to partner systems.
• Holds ultimate responsibility for all financial audits and cost reporting within the agency including City, County, State, and other government agencies.
• Provides strategic oversight of accounting systems and leads process and system improvements (NetSuite).
• Hosts regular meetings with program and fundraising colleagues to review Temporary Restricted Grants activities.
• Manages the annual financial audit.
• Manages the annual Federal and State tax returns.
• Responsible for maintaining departmental structure in both the accounting and payroll systems.
• Maintains Labor Distributions in the payroll system.
• Administers agency credit card program.
• Creates and maintains Accounting Policies and Procedures and internal controls to high standards.
• Provides training for accounting employees and general agency staff regarding Policies and Procedures.
• Direct and support system implementations, ensuring the accounting and fiscal impacts are accounted for and internal controls are in place.
• Ensures all balance sheet accounts are reconciled each month and any appropriate adjustments are made to maintain compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Maintains a strong collaborative relationship with the People & Culture Department, including administration of retirement plan.
• Participate in monthly Finance Committee meetings.
• Other tasks as required or requested by the Chief Operating Officer

- Strategic Partnership - Collaborates effectively with leadership and cross-functional partners, communicates financial information clearly, and provides meaningful analysis to support decision-making.
- Sensitivity to the cultural diversity of Edgewood staff and clients.
Applied Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- B.A. in Finance/Accounting or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in non-profits, with exposure to a social services related organization.
- 5 years of supervisory experience and/or cross-functional teamwork.
- Excellent capacity to interpret and ability to produce detailed reports/analysis.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work under high pressure. •
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of financial auditing pronouncement standards.
- Strong ability to communicate with employees and clients from a wide range of social/economic and cultural backgrounds.
- CPA or CMA preferred.
Salary information: this position has a salary range of $150,000.00 to $160,000.00.
