As a
Contracts Manager with Michels Infrastructure Solutions, you will play a critical role in protecting project interests, supporting commercial success, and ensuring contractual obligations are effectively managed from project pursuit through final closeout.
Position OverviewAs a
Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for managing contract administration, commercial risk mitigation, change management, claims support, and contractual compliance activities across major hyperscale data center and mission-critical infrastructure projects.
You will work closely with Project Management, Procurement, Project Controls, Scheduling, Construction Operations, Executive Leadership, Risk Management, Finance, Legal, customers, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure contractual obligations are understood, communicated, and effectively managed.
This role serves as a strategic commercial partner throughout project execution by supporting contract negotiations, change order management, issue resolution, documentation requirements, and risk management efforts.
Success requires strong contract administration experience, commercial awareness, negotiation skills, attention to detail, and the ability to influence project teams while balancing contractual, operational, and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Lead contract administration activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review and interpret contracts, amendments, subcontracts, purchase agreements, and commercial documents.
- Support contract negotiations and commercial discussions with customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and business partners.
- Manage change order processes, notices, claims documentation, and contract modifications.
- Identify, evaluate, and mitigate contractual and commercial risks.
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements, project obligations, and company policies.
What You'll Do- Administer owner contracts, subcontracts, supplier agreements, consulting agreements, and other project-related contracts.
- Review contract terms and conditions to identify risks, obligations, opportunities, and compliance requirements.
- Develop and maintain contract logs, notice registers, change order trackers, and contractual correspondence files.
- Support project teams with contract interpretation and contractual issue resolution.
- Lead change management processes, including notice preparation, change requests, cost impacts, schedule impacts, and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with Project Controls and Scheduling teams to evaluate schedule impacts associated with changes and commercial events.
- Assist in the preparation and management of claims, requests for equitable adjustment, dispute avoidance strategies, and commercial negotiations.
- Ensure proper documentation of contractual communications, directives, potential changes, delays, productivity impacts, and other project events.
- Collaborate with Procurement teams on supplier and subcontractor contractual matters.
- Coordinate with Legal, Risk Management, Finance, and Executive Leadership regarding significant contractual and commercial issues.
- Support project pursuits and proposal development through contract review and risk assessment activities.
- Prepare commercial reports, contract summaries, risk assessments, executive updates, and contractual performance metrics.
- Participate in project reviews, customer meetings, commercial strategy discussions, and project closeout activities.
Leadership & Collaboration- Serve as a trusted commercial advisor to Project Directors, Project Managers, Construction Managers, and Executive Leadership.
- Promote contract awareness and commercial discipline across project teams.
- Assist in the development of contract administration procedures, standards, and best practices.
- Support training initiatives related to contract compliance, documentation, change management, and commercial risk management.
- Foster collaboration among operations, procurement, legal, finance, project controls, and project leadership teams.

What It Takes- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, Legal Studies, Project Management, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related discipline and 7+ years of contract management, contract administration, commercial management, procurement, project management, or related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience supporting large-scale mission-critical, hyperscale data center, EPC, industrial, infrastructure, heavy civil, utility, or energy construction projects.
- Strong understanding of contract administration, change management, commercial risk management, claims avoidance, contract compliance, and project documentation requirements.
- Experience reviewing and administering owner contracts, subcontracts, supplier agreements, purchase agreements, and professional services contracts.
- Demonstrated experience supporting contract negotiations, commercial discussions, and dispute resolution efforts.
- Knowledge of construction contract delivery methods, including EPC, design-build, construction management, and self-perform construction environments.
- Experience evaluating schedule impacts, cost impacts, contractual entitlements, and commercial risks associated with project changes.
- Ability to interpret complex contractual documents and communicate contractual requirements to project stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, organizational, communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with ERP systems, contract management software, document management platforms, project controls systems, or related technologies is preferred.
- Professional certifications such as CPCM, CCM, PMP, PMI-RMP, or related credentials are preferred but not required.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to travel approximately 75% and support long-term onsite project assignments throughout North America as required.
