Contract & Change Administrator to support a major public construction project in New York City. This senior-level position will lead contract administration, change management, compliance oversight, claims coordination, and project closeout activities while serving as a key advisor to project and executive leadership.
The ideal candidate will bring deep experience administering large, complex construction contracts and managing contractual risk throughout the project lifecycle.
Key ResponsibilitiesContract Administration- Manage contract controls, notices, approvals, directives, and contractual correspondence.
- Track contract obligations, milestones, deadlines, and critical deliverables.
- Maintain accurate and auditable contract documentation and records.
Change Management- Administer change orders, modifications, allowances, and extra work authorizations.
- Evaluate entitlement, pricing, schedule impacts, and supporting documentation.
- Maintain change logs and provide reporting on status, exposure, and funding impacts.
- Coordinate approval, audit, and execution processes for contract changes.
Compliance & Risk Management- Monitor contractor compliance with contractual, regulatory, and project-specific requirements.
- Verify required insurance, bonds, certifications, and payment documentation.
- Review subcontract and consultant agreements for proper contractual flow-down requirements.
- Support audits, investigations, and agency information requests.
Claims & Dispute Resolution- Manage claims, relief events, schedule extension requests, and dispute documentation.
- Analyze entitlement and contractual compliance issues.
- Provide contract interpretation, risk assessments, and recommendations to project leadership.
Project Closeout- Lead contract closeout activities, including completion documentation, warranties, retainage release, and final contract administration.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Law, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of contract administration experience on large, complex construction projects.
- Strong experience with public-sector construction contracts and contract compliance.
- Demonstrated expertise in change order management, claims administration, and risk mitigation.
- Thorough understanding of construction contracts, insurance, bonds, and payment processes.
- Experience reviewing cost proposals, schedule impacts, and entitlement analyses.
- Proficiency with Procore and Microsoft Office applications, including advanced Excel.
- Strong communication, analytical, negotiation, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience on large public infrastructure or design-build projects.
- Familiarity with New York City or New York State public contracting requirements.
- Experience with CCIP/OCIP programs, prevailing wage compliance, M/WBE programs, and labor agreements.
- Knowledge of public-sector claims management and dispute resolution.
