Career Summary: The Communications and Strategic Engagement team is seeking a high-performing and dedicated Content Manager.
The Content Manager plays a key role in shaping the voice of the American Nurses Enterprise through compelling, strategic, and timely written content. This role is responsible for creating and managing high-impact editorial content across a variety of platforms, including websites, emails, speeches, social media, publications, and executive communications. The Content Manager will also serve as a trusted storytelling partner, curating and amplifying the experiences of nurses and leaders to elevate the Enterprise brand. This role will work in close partnership with the chief executive office, chief communications office as well as other confidential teams to draft and develop highly sensitive content.
The ideal candidate is a gifted writer, a strong editor, and a confident communicator who can translate complex issues-including health policy and workforce trends-into content that resonates with both internal and external audiences. This role requires a passion for storytelling, a strong grasp of policy and advocacy issues relevant to the nursing profession, and a demonstrated ability to support senior leaders with speechwriting, remarks, and other communications needs.
What You Will Do:Content Creation & Management- Write and edit original content for digital platforms, email campaigns, print materials, video scripts, op-eds, and more-ensuring clarity, accuracy, and brand alignment.
- Develop executive-level communications including speeches, presentations, letters, and internal/external messages, as well as sensitive content and information required for executive engagement.
- Maintain an editorial calendar aligned with organizational initiatives, campaigns, and policy priorities.
- Maintain an executive editorial calendar, including confidential content and schedules for top-to-top communication
- Strategic Storytelling
- Identify, curate, and elevate powerful stories from nurses, members, and stakeholders that bring the Enterprise's mission and brand to life.
- Work cross-functionally to source stories from programs, events, research, and media coverage for use across content channels.
- Policy-Informed Communications, including highly sensitive communication in the realm of policy, engagement as well as other confidential information
- Stay up to date on health policy issues and workforce challenges affecting nurses; collaborate with policy and advocacy teams to ensure content reflects current priorities.
- Translate policy and complex topics into audience-appropriate, accessible content that educates and inspires.
- Key point of contact for executive office for content development, ensuring highly confidential and propriety executive content is being developed and published.
Executive Communications- Serve as a trusted partner to executive leaders in drafting speeches, keynote remarks, talking points, and other high-visibility communications.
- Prepare content for a wide range of formats and settings, including conferences, board meetings, internal updates, and stakeholder outreach, including executive, and confidential communication.
- Requires handling of highly confidential information sources, content sources, as well as intimate content development directly with the executive officer team.
- Authorship and handling of highly sensitive information.
Brand Voice & Governance- Ensure consistency of tone, voice, and messaging across all written content.
- Support the development and maintenance of enterprise-wide editorial guidelines.
What you bring to the American Nurses Enterprise:Education - Bachelor's degree in marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field (master's degree preferred).
Related Work Experience- 5-7 years of experience in content development, communications, journalism, or related fields.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills across multiple formats and platforms.
- Demonstrated experience supporting senior executives with communications, presentations, and speechwriting.
- Demonstrated experience developing and handling highly confidential and sensitive information.
- Understanding of public policy issues, preferably in health care or nursing.
- Proven ability to synthesize complex topics into clear, compelling content for diverse audiences.
- Highly organized with strong project management skills and attention to detail.
- Collaborative, proactive mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple deadlines.
- Role may occasionally require to be on standby after hours or on weekends to support business critical content activities typical for communications and marketing activities
- Other duties as assigned based on business needs
Preferred:- Nursing background highly preferred
- Background in healthcare, policy, or nonprofit sectors.
- Familiarity with nursing or health workforce issues.
- Experience using content management systems, email marketing platforms, and analytics tools.
