OrthoVirginia is seeking a dedicated
Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide inpatient orthopedic consult coverage in a collaborative hospital-based practice. This provider will serve as the primary APC responsible for evaluating orthopedic consults, coordinating care, and partnering closely with the orthopedic surgeon on call to ensure timely and effective patient management.
This position offers a predictable weekday schedule with no routine late-night responsibilities, making it an excellent opportunity for both experienced providers and new graduates interested in orthopedic surgery.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Evaluate and assess orthopedic consults throughout the hospital.
- Obtain patient histories, perform physical examinations, and review diagnostic studies.
- Present clinical findings, assessments, and treatment recommendations to the orthopedic surgeon on call.
- Collaborate with the orthopedic surgery team to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Facilitate timely consult completion, care coordination, and treatment planning.
- Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently within the electronic medical record.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, case management, therapists, and other healthcare team members.
- Assist with patient education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
- Participate in quality patient care initiatives and departmental activities as needed.
Schedule- Monday through Friday
- 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM
- No routine late-night responsibilities
- Optional Ortho On-Call (OOC) weekend coverage opportunities may be available for providers interested in additional clinical experience and compensation
QualificationsRequired- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
- Current or eligible Virginia licensure
- DEA certification (or ability to obtain)
- BLS certification
Preferred- Orthopedic, surgical, emergency medicine, hospitalist, or acute care experience preferred but not required

Compensation Range for this position:
$111,200.00 - $166,800.00
Compensation for this role will be based on several factors, including the candidate's qualifications, relevant experience, education, skills, certifications, geography/market, and internal equity considerations.
