Description:

ColonialWebb is seeking an experiencedConstruction Trades Superintendent to support our large-scale construction operations by recruiting, evaluating, deploying, and optimizing skilled trades talent across multiple job sites. This role is critical to ensuring the right craft professionals are assigned to the right projects at the right time-supporting safety, productivity, quality, and schedule performance across our Mechanical and Plumbing construction teams.

Based in Richmond, VA, this position works closely with Operations leadership, project teams, and field supervision to manage a large workforce of approximately 800 skilled craft professionals. The ideal candidate brings deep superintendent experience on complex construction projects, strong judgment in evaluating field talent, and a passion for building and maintaining a high-performing workforce.

A day in the life:
  • Support workforce planning and staffing for large, complex construction projects, including data centers and other mission-critical facilities
  • Partner with Operations leadership and project teams to forecast labor needs for current and upcoming work
  • Evaluate skilled trades professionals through interviews, field observations, and performance history to determine appropriate job placement
  • Assign craft professionals to projects based on experience, certifications, skill level, manpower plans, and project requirements
  • Develop and maintain 3-, 6-, and 12-month workforce forecasts aligned with construction schedules
  • Translate project schedules into labor demand plans by trade and skill level
  • Identify workforce gaps and develop recruiting strategies to meet future staffing needs
  • Build and maintain relationships with trade schools, apprenticeship programs, and industry organizations to strengthen talent pipelines
  • Support hiring events and recruiting initiatives to attract skilled craft professionals
  • Collaborate with Superintendents, Project Managers, HR, and Operations leadership to address staffing needs and workforce adjustments
  • Promote ColonialWebb's culture of safety, accountability, craftsmanship, and respect across all field operations
  • Identify high-potential craft professionals for leadership development and succession planning
  • Partner with training teams to close skill gaps and strengthen workforce capabilities
  • Serve as a trusted resource to field leadership on workforce planning, talent utilization, and employee development

You should have:
  • 10+ years of experience as a Superintendent on large, complex construction projects
  • Strong background in Mechanical and Plumbing construction
  • Experience managing and supporting large skilled craft workforces
  • Data center construction experience strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to evaluate craft skill levels, leadership potential, and job readiness
  • Strong understanding of workforce planning and labor forecasting
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Strong organizational skills and sound decision-making abilities
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Demonstrated commitment to jobsite safety, quality, and productivity
  • Ability to work from the Richmond, VA area with regular travel to multiple construction job sites
