Construction Support Engineer

Summary
Arc Services is seeking a Construction Support Engineer to support a major naval shipbuilding and defense program in Groton, Connecticut. This position is responsible for providing technical engineering support during the construction, testing, certification, and delivery phases of complex maritime systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving skills, the ability to work directly with production teams and skilled trades, and experience supporting manufacturing, construction, or industrial operations in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical engineering support for construction, installation, testing, certification, and delivery activities.
  • Serve as a liaison between engineering, production, operations, planning, and quality organizations.
  • Investigate, analyze, and resolve technical issues that arise during construction and manufacturing activities.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, procedures, and technical requirements.
  • Coordinate technical solutions involving multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Support implementation of engineering changes, modifications, and corrective actions.
  • Perform root cause analysis and develop recommendations to prevent recurring issues.
  • Work directly with skilled trades, technicians, and production personnel to support construction activities.
  • Participate in testing, inspections, certifications, and system validation efforts.
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and engineering evaluations as required.
  • Ensure compliance with customer requirements, quality standards, and safety regulations.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of engineering experience preferred in manufacturing, construction, shipbuilding, defense, aerospace, nuclear, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience supporting production, manufacturing, installation, commissioning, or construction activities preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, project teams, management, and skilled trades personnel.
  • Experience with root cause analysis, engineering change processes, and technical issue resolution preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Previous U.S. Navy, maritime, shipbuilding, defense, or military engineering experience is a plus.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance.
  • Must pass background screening and drug/alcohol testing as required by the customer.
