Job Summary:

The Construction Superintendent at is responsible for overseeing all aspects of on-site construction activities, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. This role requires a hands-on leader with expertise in coordinating trades, enforcing safety regulations, managing subcontractors, and ensuring high-quality workmanship. The Superintendent will work closely with project managers, engineers, and foremen to deliver successful project outcomes, while maintaining clear communication with all stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Project Site Management:
    • Oversee daily construction activities on-site, ensuring compliance with project plans, specifications, and timelines.
    • Manage and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and labor teams to ensure efficient workflow and quality workmanship.
    • Conduct daily site inspections to ensure that construction adheres to design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
    • Address and resolve issues or conflicts that arise during construction, minimizing delays and disruptions.
  2. Scheduling and Coordination:
    • Develop, manage, and adjust construction schedules to ensure timely completion of project milestones and deadlines.
    • Collaborate with the project manager and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals, schedules, and resources.
    • Coordinate the delivery, inventory and storage of materials and equipment, ensuring that they are available when needed to avoid delays.
    • Conduct regular coordination meetings with subcontractors and the project team to ensure project progression and address any concerns.
  3. Quality Control and Assurance:
    • Monitor construction quality to ensure compliance with company standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements.
    • Enforce quality control processes, inspecting work and ensuring that materials meet required standards.
    • Address any issues related to defects or rework to maintain high-quality project delivery.
  4. Safety and Compliance:
    • Enforce company safety policies and ensure that all workers comply with safety regulations, site rules, and OSHA standards.
    • Attend regular safety meetings, toolbox talks, and site inspections by safety team to identify potential hazards and ensure a safe work environment
    • Investigate and report any accidents or safety incidents to the safety team, implementing corrective measures to prevent future occurrences.
    • Ensure that all necessary permits and inspections are obtained and comply with local building codes and regulatory requirements.
  1. Budget and Cost Control:
    • Review and approve subcontractor and supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and alignment with work completed, reporting invoices to Project Manager.
    • Collaborate with the project manager to address any budget concerns, potential changes, or cost-saving opportunities.
  2. Team Leadership and Communication:
    • Lead and supervise construction crews, ensuring that tasks are clearly assigned and understood.
    • Foster a positive and productive work environment, promoting teamwork and collaboration across all trades.
    • Maintain clear and consistent communication with project managers, engineers, clients, and stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status.
    • Serve as the main point of contact for any on-site questions, concerns, or issues.
  3. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including daily reports, logs, inspections, and photos.
    • Track project progress, noting any delays or changes to the schedule, and report them to the project manager.
    • Ensure all as-built documents, redlines, and change orders are properly documented and communicated to the project team.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in construction, with at least 3 years in a superintendent role managing commercial, industrial, or civil construction projects.
  • Proven knowledge of construction processes, means, and methods, including safety regulations and quality control.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, tradespeople, and labor crews in a variety of construction environments.
  • Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, PlanGrid) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Certification in OSHA 30, First Aid, and CPR.
  • Strong understanding of building codes, local regulations, and construction industry standards.

Preferred Skills:
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
