Responsibilities

We are looking to hire a Licensed Construction Site Safety Manager who will have primary responsibility for management and communication of a best-in-class safety and wellness program for one of our large-scale commercial high-rise construction projects located in midtown. This leader will formulate the technical and tactical direction of the program and manage site safety operations to ensure the highest standards of safety performance. The position will be based primarily onsite in midtown and will report to senior leadership while collaborating closely with Risk Management, Development, project leadership, contractors, and trade partners.
  • Present as a visible leader, clearly articulating vision, objectives, strategies, policy, and procedure in order to build a culture dedicated to safety, accountability, and results while developing and sustaining collaborative relationships throughout the organization and with contractors.
  • Advise operations personnel (project directors, project executives, project managers) on leading and managing the safe execution of construction work at the owner/developer level.
  • Oversee the integration of contractor safety personnel into the project's safety program.
  • Collaborate with Risk Management on aspects of the program critical to the success of OCIPs:
    • Cooperate with incident investigations;
    • Perform post-mortems for significant events, providing senior management with results, analysis, and recommendations;
    • Coordinate insurer safety and loss control inspections and ensure appropriate, timely responses to reports and recommendations.
  • Identify and control hazardous conditions that may lead to injury and/or property damage using established safety standards.
  • Evaluate technology needs across multiple platforms.
  • Drive culture change and continuous improvement through the development and execution of a comprehensive ES&H program aligned with Related policies and guidelines, working closely with Risk Management.
  • Participate in contractor evaluation through the subcontractor approval process and make recommendations to assist in risk mitigation.

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in NYC high-rise construction safety management.

  • Knowledge of governmental ES&H standards, rules, and regulations and proficiency in applying them to construction projects.
  • Working knowledge of safe work practices.
  • Proven experience leading incident investigations.
