Construction Safety Engineer

TSMC Arizona is looking for Construction Safety Engineer to join our F21 FAB project located in sunny Phoenix, Arizona. The Construction Safety Engineer is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of safety programs to ensure compliance with federal (OSHA), state, and local regulations in construction projects. This role involves conducting safety assessments, providing technical expertise, reviewing safety documentation, and collaborating with project teams and subcontractors to promote a safe working environment. The Construction Safety Engineer plays a key role in identifying hazards, performing incident investigations, and supporting ongoing safety improvement efforts.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in creating, communicating, and enforcing corporate safety policies and procedures.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to field teams and subcontractors to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Coordinate and participate in subcontractor Pre-Construction Safety Planning Meetings.
  • Review subcontractor Site-Specific Safety Programs and Job Hazard Analyses prior to mobilization.
  • Conduct routine site evaluations, identify safety deficiencies, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support the investigation of incidents using root cause analysis techniques and assist in developing preventive measures.
  • Monitor and review subcontractor safety training documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Attend and review subcontractor Tool Box Talks to ensure safety awareness and proper documentation.
  • Perform regular site audits and inspections to proactively identify hazards and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with project teams to implement safety strategies and foster a culture of safety.

Recruitment Requirements:
  • Graduated from university with a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
  • A major in the fields of Construction, Safety, or Engineering is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in Construction Health and Safety is required.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state safety and health regulations.
  • Strong understanding of construction safety practices and technologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with teams and stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and adapt to changing environments.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Personality Characteristics:
  • Highly enthusiastic and interested in semiconductor manufacturing facility construction.
  • Possess independent thinking, research, and operational abilities.
  • Ability to innovate, think quickly, and align with key stakeholders to provide solutions.

Physical Requirements:
  • May spend extended hours working inside and outside in all weather conditions, and in awkward body positions which can cause physical discomfort and strain.
  • Required to regularly lift up to 50 lbs and to adjust heavy objects.
  • The position will come in contact with sharp, hot, and cold equipment, and parts.
  • Must be medically qualified to wear a personal respirator.
  • Sensory demands include exposure to the smells associated with industrial chemical operations, exposure to the sounds associated with powered tools and industrial equipment.
  • Must have the ability to safely climb ladders, and work at elevation from ladders, scaffolding, lifts, roofs, or platforms, and the ability to work in confined spaces.

Candidates must be willing and able to work on-site at our Phoenix Arizona facility.

Standard work hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
