Full Job Description
Construction Manager, Generation

The Construction Manager, Generation leads field construction execution on utility-scale generation projects, including thermal, solar, and battery storage assets. This role owns the day-to-day interface between the owner, EPCs, and subcontractors on site, driving schedule, cost, quality, and safety performance from mobilization through mechanical completion and turnover to commissioning. This is a generation-specific role. Candidates without direct hands-on experience building or maintaining power generation assets, thermal, nuclear, solar, or battery storage, will not be considered regardless of general construction management background.

What You Will Do
  • Direct and coordinate all on-site construction activities for a generation asset or major capital project, from site mobilization through substantial completion and turnover.
  • Serve as the owner's or TSG's field representative in day-to-day interactions with EPC contractors, subcontractors, and craft labor, holding them accountable to contract scope, schedule, and specifications.
  • Manage the construction schedule in coordination with project controls, identifying critical path risks early and driving recovery plans when milestones slip.
  • Own field-level cost tracking and support change order review, ensuring work performed aligns with approved scope before payment applications are certified.
  • Lead site safety culture and enforce OSHA and client safety programs, including job hazard analyses, permitting, and incident investigation when required.
  • Coordinate closely with engineering, procurement, and commissioning teams to resolve field constructability issues, RFIs, and design interface conflicts.
  • Oversee quality control and inspection processes for civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical installation work, coordinating with QA/QC and NDE personnel as applicable.
  • Manage the transition of completed systems from construction to startup and commissioning, ensuring turnover packages are complete and traceable.
  • Participate in and lead constructability reviews, lessons-learned sessions, and pre-task planning meetings.
  • Provide regular progress reporting to project leadership, including schedule status, cost performance, safety metrics, and risk items.

Required Qualifications
  • 15 or more years of construction management experience in the power generation industry, with direct field experience on thermal (coal, gas, or nuclear), solar, or battery storage energy storage system (BESS) construction.
  • Demonstrated experience managing EPC contractors and subcontractors on projects of significant capital scale, ideally $50M and above.
  • Working knowledge of generation-specific construction disciplines, including civil and structural foundations, mechanical equipment setting, electrical balance of plant, and instrumentation and controls.
  • Strong understanding of construction scheduling principles (CPM), earned value concepts, and field cost tracking.
  • Solid grasp of the interface between construction and commissioning, including systems turnover, punch list management, and startup readiness.
  • Proven ability to manage craft labor relations and multi-contractor job sites, including union and open-shop environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting progress and risk to owner leadership and client stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent hands-on field experience and progressive responsibility will be considered in place of a degree.

Working Conditions
  • Primarily field-based role at an active construction site, including exposure to weather, noise, and heavy equipment areas.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE and pass site-specific safety training and medical clearance requirements.
  • Some regional travel may be required between site visits, client meetings, or multi-site assignments.
