Job Summary

In this field-based construction role, you will help lead the successful delivery of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project by coordinating site construction activities in partnership with the Project Field Manager. You will support schedule execution, safety performance, cost control, and quality outcomes while working closely with project teams, craft professionals, subcontractors, and client representatives. This role requires travel to project sites.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will provide site construction teams with the means, methods, staffing, and field support needed to safely and efficiently deliver Substation and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) construction work. You will partner with the EH&S team to develop and maintain safety programs tied to battery storage and substation construction activities. You will help develop craft training and certification programs for lineman and groundman trades supporting open-shop craft employees, while also maintaining construction procedures and quality programs associated with Substation and BESS work. You will identify and support recruiting needs for craft and field leadership roles tied to project execution. You will also support project proposals by developing staffing plans, equipment needs, and direct and indirect quantities and costs for estimate development. The role includes leading and participating in design constructability reviews and actively contributing to project risk reviews by identifying construction risks and developing mitigation plans. You will assist site teams in resolving field issues related to drawings and information flow, schedule, quality, quantity tracking, cost reporting, and safety. You will monitor construction productivity, progress, and cost, then report updates to the Operations Manager, Construction Manager, and Project Controls Manager. You will maintain targets and develop corrective plans when progress or productivity goals are at risk. You will verify that equipment, materials, manpower, and resources needed to support the project schedule are available and on site. You will review timesheets, installed quantity reports, and progress payment requests, while building strong working relationships with the client and assigned subcontractors. You will develop and distribute Job Hazard Analyses for major erection packages within scope, identify potential back charges and out-of-scope issues, and report them to the Construction Manager. You will support the commercial recovery process and provide supervision, training, development, and performance management to direct reports. Across all responsibilities, you will uphold safety and quality standards, support continuous improvement, and help teams adapt to the change management efforts connected with implementing improvements.

Preferred Qualifications

Direct-hire construction experience supporting Substation and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects is preferred. Experience developing or supporting outage plans within construction is also preferred. A bachelor's degree in construction or engineering, along with craft experience or above, is preferred. Candidates should bring 14+ years of construction supervision experience, ideally with exposure to utility-scale battery storage, electrical infrastructure, substation, or related energy construction environments. Preferred knowledge and skills include project and department budget processes and tools, project controls, risk assessment and management, administrative policies and procedures, construction project management systems, conceptual planning, conflict management, leadership, team building, coaching, mentoring, change management, multitasking, presentation skills, problem solving, project management, communication, meeting facilitation, time reporting systems, and expense reporting policies and procedures. Bilingual Spanish-speaking ability is preferred.

Physical Demands:
