Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and contractual oversight on active construction projects.
  • Review change orders, pay requisitions, and general correspondence between Engineers and Contractors.
  • Oversee multiple projects with onsite presence during critical milestones, not intended for full-time inspection.
  • Prepare and address correspondence related to construction issues, including delays and disputes.
  • Monitor safety activities on-site to ensure compliance with AECOM's safety standards.

AECOM is currently seeking a Manager of Construction for multiple projects in Fairfield, County Connecticut. This position will be part of an exciting team managing current and future construction projects related to major water and wastewater pump stations and transmission systems. This is an opportunity to work on some of our nation's most pressing water infrastructure problems and contributing to AECOM's success as an industry leader in engineering and construction. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: - Contract management with emphasis on being liaison between AECOM design team, Contractor and Owner. - Confirms that the contractor is submitting all submittals for review in a timely fashion so as not to inhibit the progress of the work. - Technical and contractual input and review of active construction projects. - Review of requests for information, change order proposals, pay requisitions, schedules, general and contractual correspondence between Engineer and Contractors. - Management of multiple projects with onsite presence for construction meetings and at critical milestone events. Position is not intended for full time inspection of any one given project. - Prepare and manage correspondence related to construction and identify key issues regarding disputed work, delays, additional and supplemental work, and non-conforming work. - Ensure that safety monitoring activities within the Projects(s) scope of work are being accomplished. Monitor safety activities per AECOM scope of work. - Assist Resident Engineer and inspection staff in expediting technical solutions to field problems. - Notify Engineer of any discrepancies between contract documents and work being performed. - Review and resolution and/or approval of Inspector and Contractor reporting, forms, testing, compliance and coordination issues. - Leads in the negotiation of Change Orders - Verify that all field testing, start-up, and operation and maintenance training activities are conducted in accordance with the contract documents. Qualifications Minimum Requirements - BA/BS in Construction, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related degree + 8 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. - Construction Management experience on water and/or wastewater capital improvement projects and minimum of 8 years of overall experience. - OSHA-10 Hour Safety Certification. - Valid U.S. Driver's License and as a condition of employment and must be able to pass AECOM's MVR review. Preferred Qualifications - AS/BS in civil, environmental or mechanical engineering. - 15+ years of construction experience in the Water/Wastewater industry, preferably in the Northeast. - Strong leadership under pressure with a calm personality with thorough understanding of all aspects of contract administration will be required. - Good disputes avoidance skills and ability to align interests and keep different parties working together. - OSHA-30 Hour Construction Supervisor Certification. - Relocation considered for the right candidate.
