Full Job Description
Primary Function

The Construction Legal Counsel provides guidance, direction, and assistance on a wide variety of legal matters in consultation with management. Primary focus is the review and negotiation of complex EPC contracts for projects in the electric power and ancillary industries, spanning the initial proposal phase through project execution. This position also supports the negotiation and renewal of Master Service Agreements, purchasing agreements, and other ancillary agreements with customers. The position will be based in our Houston, Texas office located at 12031 Kurland Dr, Houston, TX 77034 and will report to Dashiell's General Counsel.

Duties & Responsibilities

Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with customers, including EPC, Design-Build, Professional Services Agreements, and Master Service Agreements.
  • Assist Sales, Supply Chain/Procurement, and Operations groups with negotiation of contracts and purchase orders with subcontractors and vendors.
  • Provide contract support and advise on contract issues during project execution, including change order review and dispute resolution.
  • Travel to company locations, project sites, legal proceedings, and contract negotiations as required.
  • Perform special projects and complete other duties as assigned or requested.

  • Protect Dashiell's commercial interests on large, complex EPC projects by ensuring contracts are strategically negotiated and legally sound from proposal through close-out.
  • Enable project teams to execute with confidence by providing timely, practical legal guidance on contract risk, change orders, and vendor agreements.
  • Strengthen cross-functional collaboration across Sales, Supply Chain, and Operations by serving as a trusted legal partner throughout the project lifecycle.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

Required
  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school required.
  • Current license to practice law in good standing required.
  • Minimum 3 years of legal transactional/commercial experience required, including industrial or large general construction customer contract negotiation and face-to-face negotiations; minimum 3 years in construction industry contracting required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical and detail-oriented skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple work streams in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred
  • Experience with EPC projects in the electric power industry (transmission and distribution) strongly preferred.
  • Experience negotiating joint venture agreements preferred.

Physical Requirements
