Qualifications

• 3+ years of construction inspection experience, preferably in transportation or heavy civil projects.
• Experience with IDOT, Illinois Tollway, CDOT, or municipal roadway projects.
• Strong knowledge of roadway, bridge, drainage, and utility construction processes.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with contractors and project stakeholders.
• Proficient in documentation and computer applications such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Ability to make sound and swift decisions in field conditions.

Responsibilities

• Inspect roadway, bridge, drainage, utility, and transportation construction projects.
• Verify compliance with plans, specifications, and IDOT standards.
• Coordinate activities with contractors, Resident Engineers, project managers, and agency representatives.
• Document daily construction activities and keep accurate project records.
• Measure completed quantities for contractor payment calculations.
• Observe material testing and ensure quality control documentation.
• Identify and assist in resolving construction challenges on-site.
• Spend most of the workday in the field rather than in the office.
