Job DescriptionThe Construction Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing facility construction, renovation, infrastructure, and equipment installation projects in support of manufacturing operations. This position provides technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, from concept development through design, construction, commissioning, and project closeout.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in industrial construction, project management, contractor coordination, cost control, and schedule management within manufacturing, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, data center, or similar industrial environments.
Responsibilities- Manage construction projects ranging from facility renovations to utility infrastructure upgrades and manufacturing equipment installations.
- Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and execution plans.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders including Facilities Engineering, Operations, EHS, Procurement, Finance, and Manufacturing teams.
- Review and approve contractor proposals, construction drawings, specifications, and submittals.
- Lead design reviews, constructability assessments, and risk evaluations.
- Monitor project progress to ensure adherence to budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Manage contractors and consultants, ensuring compliance with company safety standards and construction requirements.
- Conduct field inspections to verify workmanship, quality, and conformance to design documents.
- Support permitting activities and coordination with local authorities and regulatory agencies.
- Facilitate project meetings and communicate status, risks, issues, and mitigation plans to leadership.
- Develop and maintain project schedules utilizing Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
- Coordinate commissioning, startup, and turnover activities.
- Ensure all project documentation, as-built drawings, and closeout packages are completed and archived.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to project execution, construction management, and facility reliability.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, construction management, architectural engineering, or related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience managing construction or facility infrastructure projects.
- Experience in industrial, manufacturing, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, power generation, data center, or similar technical environments.
- Knowledge of construction methods, building systems, utility infrastructure, and project delivery processes.
- Experience managing contractors, subcontractors, and engineering consultants.
- Strong understanding of project budgeting, estimating, and cost control.
- Proficiency with scheduling software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and engineering documents.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Salary:
onsemi is excited to share the base salary range for this position is $88,700 to $142,000, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. The final pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, education, experience, and/or consideration of internal equity of our current team members.
