Full Job Description
Job Summary:

PRIMARY PURPOSE: To provide claims advocacy representing our design and construction clients. Analyze and consult with clients on complex or technically difficult design and construction professional liability and general liability claims; to help clients navigate complex insurance programs; to coordinate claims management within industry best practices and specific client service requirements; and to providing high levels of customer service.

ROLE: The Senior Claims Consultant will have the following skills sets and be able to:

  • Perform in depth coverage analysis, investigation, liability and potential exposure analysis
  • Understand claims-made policies
  • Investigate and resolve coverage disputes
  • Assist insureds with the development and implementation of resolution strategies of professional and general liability claims
  • Assist as needed with development of client's claims programs
  • Have superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized and efficient in a fast-paced multi-tasked environment
  • Able to prioritize effectively to accomplish objectives with creativity and enthusiasm, and with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrate high level of understanding of individual state and civil laws, claims practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven ability to analyze coverage and draft coverage response letters on complex matters.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills; proven ability to collaborate and build relationships across teams.
  • Flexibility to travel.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Sciences degree in business field, related field, or equivalent practical insurance claim management experience
  • Substantial knowledge of the practices and procedures of Third Party Administrators, and the skill to effectively develop long term partnerships that meet client expectations and needs
  • Proven experience in the evaluation of the accuracy of property and casualty claim reserving practices
  • Strong knowledge the evaluation, interpretation and communication of insurance claims and coverage
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills required
  • Understands industry trends and governmental regulations
  • Ability to complete continuing education requirements as needed
  • Ability to attend company, department, and team meetings as required, including industry training sessions
  • Ability to comply with all company policies and procedures, proactively protecting confidentiality of client and company information
  • Ability to efficiently organize work and manage time in order to meet deadlines
  • Ability to travel by automobile and aircraft
  • Ability to use office equipment such as a computer, keyboard, calculator, photocopier, and facsimile machine
  • Ability to work on a computer for a prolonged amount of time
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours as needed
  • Legally able to work in the United States
