Bechtel's Manufacturing & Technology (M&T) Business Unit is designing and building an Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) Manufacturing Facility located at Generation Park in Houston, TX. Job Summary:

Assigned to a field engineering organization supporting concrete scope. Provides advanced field engineering coordination and technical leadership for concrete activities including reinforcement, formwork, embeds, placement, curing, finishing, and turnover support. Independently plans and coordinates work with superintendents, Craft Professionals, engineering, quality, contracts, and suppliers to ensure concrete work is executed safely, in accordance with design requirements, within schedule, and aligned with project quality standards. Leads field engineering functions including work planning, material and quantity management, constructability review, inspection and testing coordination, technical issue resolution, and progress reporting for concrete operations.#LI-ME1

Major Responsibilities:

• Leads development and review of Installation Work Packages (IWPs), field material requests, and short interval plans for complex concrete activities.
• Interprets and reviews construction drawings, specifications, sketches, codes, standards, and concrete placement plans; identifies constructability concerns and drives timely resolution.
• Coordinates across superintendents, area field engineers, quality, and suppliers to confirm readiness for concrete pours including formwork, reinforcing steel, embeds, access, equipment, permits, inspections, and placement sequencing.
• Develops, validates, and reconciles quantity takeoffs and installed quantities for concrete, reinforcement, formwork, embeds, and related commodities; communicates trends, risks, and productivity impacts to supervision.
• Ensures materials, placement cards, inspection documentation, approved procedures, and supporting technical information are available to support planned pours and field execution priorities.
• Monitors and provides technical direction for concrete placement, vibration, curing, protection, and finishing to ensure compliance with specifications, design requirements, and project quality expectations.
• Coordinates inspection and testing activities including pre-pour inspections, slump, air, temperature, strength testing, and required documentation; follows up on deficiencies through closure.
• Reviews and applies specifications, procedures, codes, standards, technical data, and vendor recommendations; provides guidance to less experienced field engineering personnel on proper field application.
• Verifies proper receipt, storage, handling, and protection of concrete-related materials to maintain quality standards and prevent damage, deterioration, or rework.
• Leads field issue resolution, construction change support, and NCR mitigation activities; evaluates root causes, recommends corrective actions, and coordinates implementation to minimize rework and schedule impacts.
• Promotes and supports Zero Accident Philosophy during all concrete operations, including elevated work, heavy placements, interface work, and high-risk construction activities; actively participates in hazard identification and mitigation planning.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Advanced knowledge of concrete placement, formwork systems, reinforcement, embeds, curing, finishing, and protection practices; ensures work is buildable, safe, compliant, and properly sequenced.
• Strong working knowledge of ACI and CRSI standards including 301, 318, 117, 305R, and 306R and their application to field execution, inspection, testing, and acceptance criteria.
• Ability to lead readiness reviews to ensure IFC drawings, quantities, embeds, materials, permits, inspections, quality documentation, and field constraints are resolved to support IWPs and superintendent execution plans.
• Proficient in controlling quantities, quality, progress, and field reporting using Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAP) and other approved project systems.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex interfaces with engineering, construction, quality, procurement, subcontractors, and suppliers; communicates risks, constructability challenges, and recommended solutions clearly and proactively.
