Department Summary:

MITRE is currently seeking a Computable General Equilibrium Modeler to support the continued growth of our portfolio of applied macroeconomics work across an exciting and diverse set of sponsors. We are focused on solving problems for a safer world, we conduct quantitative economic modeling and analysis to inform and assess the impacts of changes to domestic and international policies, regulations, technology, infrastructure, and events. Our deep technical expertise and breadth of perspective provide insights across many topics.

Our team has expertise in advanced econometrics, macroeconomics and microeconomics, industrial organization, labor, international trade and finance, forecasting, policy analysis, computable general equilibrium modeling, complex valuations, and spatial modeling/statistics. Our backgrounds as just as diverse, with applied experience in government, industry, and academia. We also partner with leading practitioners from universities around the world in developing world class and one-of-a-kind capabilities. Our work includes sponsorship from across government agencies, as well as a robust applied research program.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) modeling and model development.
  • Policy assessment of domestic and international economic impacts
  • Converting diverse data and information, at times from other models, into model input appropriate for CGE modeling.
  • Support custom econometric research
  • Communicate the results of your research as actionable and practical solutions to both internal and external stakeholders


Basic Qualifications:
  • Requires Minimum of 5 years and a Bachelors degree or 3 years and a Masters degree in Economics or equivalent. Academic (teaching, research) experience counts towards minimum
  • Experienced Computable General Equilibrium modeling (CGE) modeler
  • Advanced econometrics
  • Proficiency with common statistical languages (Python, R, Stata, Julia, etc.)
  • Creatively develop solutions to overcome data limitations when needed
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
  • Per the U.S. Government's eligibility requirements, you must be a U.S Citizen to be considered for a security clearance.
  • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with the GEMPACK software packages.
  • 5 + years related experience with Computable General Equilibrium modeling
  • Experience in the following topic areas is desired, but not required: international trade, supply chains, critical infrastructure, defense and/or aviation.
  • Experience working with government sponsors and agencies desired, not required.
  • PhD, PhD Candidate in Economics
