Compliance Privacy Advisor, Manager
The Capital One Privacy Compliance team is seeking a Manager, Compliance Privacy Advisor with a passion for mitigation privacy risks at a tech focused finance institution. They will join us to perform key privacy compliance activities on the second line of defense and will help manage privacy risk under applicable federal, state, and international privacy laws and regulations.
The Manager will apply risk, process management, and analytical skills to drive actions in support of privacy risk objectives for the Compliance department and impacted business lines. A successful Compliance Privacy Manager is a highly motivated, forward thinking self-starter who can work autonomously, is quick to adapt, technologically adept, a problem solver, and an adaptive learner.
Responsibilities:
- Actively follow privacy trends, including the development of new privacy laws and emerging privacy risks domestically and internationally;
- Maintain subject matter expertise of applicable privacy laws and regulations such as FCRA, FACTA, TCPA, TSR, CAN-SPAM, GLBA, PIPEDA, UK DPA, GDPR, FFIEC guidance, CCPA, CA SB1, COPPA;
- Provide guidance, advice and effective challenge on privacy risks of business initiatives and changes and support business lines through various interactions and forum engagements;
- Consult with legal counsel and other subject matter experts as necessary to address privacy compliance matters;
- Map legal and regulatory requirements to business processes and activities;
- Advise business lines on application of privacy requirements, development of controls and monitoring, remediation/corrective action of compliance breakdowns, and changes in law or regulation;
- Engage with compliance testing and others within the department to advise on privacy compliance matters;
- Review privacy-related complaints generated from business lines and provide guidance on remediation; escalate and consult with subject matter experts, when necessary;
- Prepare and participate in reporting on privacy compliance activities; and
- Travel to various Capital One locations as necessary.

- Understanding of key regulatory and audit requirements and three lines of defense risk management framework.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or Military experience
- At least 3 years of experience in privacy, compliance, legal, risk management, or audit.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's or Juris Doctor Degree
- 6+ years of experience in privacy compliance, legal, risk management, or audit.
- CIPP (Certified Information Privacy Professional) certification(s), CRCM (Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager) certification, or AIGP (Certified AI Governance Professional).

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $151,900 - $173,400 for Compliance Advisor Manager
Richmond, VA: $138,100 - $157,700 for Compliance Advisor Manager
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
