The Opportunity:
Hyatt seeks a strategic and collaborative Complex Director of Finance to provide financial leadership across a portfolio of properties. This role partners with General Managers and property Directors of Finance to strengthen financial performance, consistency, controls and decision-making across the portfolio. Property Directors of Finance maintain accountability for the day-to-day financial operations of their respective hotels, while the Complex Director establishes standards, supports talent development, leads consolidated planning and analysis, and identifies opportunities to improve performance across the properties. This role reports to the VP Operations with dotted line to the Regional Director of Finance and is part of a team that is committed to nurturing curiosity and new skills, and building connections across the organization with stakeholders, colleagues and guests.
The Role
The Complex Director of Finance provides strategic financial leadership across properties and serves as a functional partner to each property Director of Finance and General Manager. The role drives consistency in financial practices, strengthens controls, supports consolidated planning and analysis, develops finance talent, and escalates significant risks and opportunities to Regional Finance leadership. Property Directors of Finance retain accountability for the day-to-day financial operations of their respective hotels. The Complex Director of Finance is expected to embody the following core competencies and expertise:
• Financial Management:
• Provide portfolio-level oversight of monthly and annual financial statements. Review property results and variance explanations, challenge assumptions, identify trends across the five properties, and partner with department leaders on corrective actions.
• Review the accuracy, timeliness and consistency of property-level reporting while preserving clear accountability with each property Director of Finance.
• Lead and support consistent financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, month-end close, accounting and cash-management practices across the five properties. Identify opportunities to share resources, improve processes and strengthen portfolio-wide efficiency without weakening property-level ownership.
• Lead the development and implementation of portfolio-wide financial strategies and annual business plans aligned with business objectives, property priorities and stakeholder expectations.
• Provide oversight of year-end processes, reconciliations, audit work papers and external audit coordination across the portfolio. Support property finance leaders in responding to auditor requests, approving appropriate adjustments and reconciling audited results to hotel records.
• Support capital planning, cash management and investment analysis by identifying cross-property priorities, risks and opportunities for Regional Finance and hotel leadership.
• Internal Controls & Risk
• Ensure adherence to HMA terms, management agreements and reporting obligations across the five properties.
• Establish and reinforce consistent policies and procedures that support sound internal controls, segregation of duties and effective risk management at each property.
• Provide oversight and support for SOX compliance and other required control assessments, ensuring issues are identified, escalated and remediated timely.
• Monitor industry trends, legislative changes, organizational risks and property performance to inform sound business decisions and proactive recommendations.
• Operational Leadership :
• Mentor and coach the property Directors of Finance and finance teams by providing direction, training and performance feedback to support professional advancement, succession planning and consistent execution.
• Support the development of future leaders in finance and across all areas of the portfolio.
• Empower General Managers, department leaders and colleagues with timely, practical financial insights that support informed decisions.
• Provide functional leadership and coordination for finance-related systems, Information Technology and Procurement priorities, as applicable to the portfolio, while maintaining a sound understanding of hotel operations and back-office functions.
• Cultivate an environment that is receptive to change, continuous improvement, collaboration and shared accountability across the properties.
• Promote consistent talent practices, communication rhythms and finance team engagement across the portfolio.
• Business Partner:
• Collaborate with the General Managers, property Directors of Finance and operational leaders to devise and implement strategic initiatives that improve cost efficiency, revenue performance and profitability without compromising core business values or relationships.
• Nurture relationships with owners, asset managers, owners' representatives and key stakeholders by coordinating timely communication, consistent deliverables and appropriate escalation of portfolio and property matters.
• Serve as a trusted escalation point for significant financial risks, opportunities and performance issues, bringing forward clear analysis and actionable recommendations to Regional Finance and hotel leadership.
