The Role:Savvy partners with independent financial advisors who move their practices onto our platform. A core part of that partnership is how we pay them. Every advisor has a negotiated economic arrangement with Savvy, and turning those arrangements into accurate, on-time monthly payments is its own operational discipline.
We are looking for a Compensation Operations Manager to own that discipline end to end. We pay over 100 advisors, and each payment is the output of a calculation that pulls from upstream sources across the company. The Head of Finance has owned this since the beginning; it now needs a dedicated owner and you will be the first person in this seat. You will inherit a working and roughly automated process, make it more accurate and more scalable.
This is an operator role. You will sit in Finance and report to our Head of Finance, but you will spend most of your week working with our advisory operations, trading, billing, and post-sales teams, and speaking directly with advisors. Success means advisors trust their payout statements, and every question about advisor pay has one clear owner.
Responsibilities- Run the monthly advisor payout cycle
- Own the monthly payout process end to end for individual advisors and for advisor teams, including edge cases where a team is paid as a single entity and cases where payments are coordinated across several individuals.
- Build each payout from that advisor's contract terms from gross to net payout. Advisors can purchase additional services or products for fees that we net from payouts.
- Reconcile every payout before funds move. Investigate discrepancies regardless of size, and stand behind the numbers you send.
- Own the broader advisor money stack
- Administer the advisor loan program, including balances, repayment schedules, and offsets against payouts.
- Build and run the process for equity distributions to advisors under their agreements.
- Manage corporate card budgets and expense oversight for advisors.
- Triage payroll escalations from advisors and drive them to resolution with the right internal owners.
- Own advisor platform-fee invoicing and collections.
- Track incoming deposits from third-party insurance and annuity partners and map them to the advisors.
- Build the function
- Document every process you inherit or create, and turn one-off judgment calls into repeatable procedures.
- Identify and close control gaps before they become advisor-facing errors.
- Partner with Data and Engineering over time to move this work off spreadsheets and into systems.
Must have:- 5+ years in operations, payroll, commissions, revenue operations, or business operations, in a role where you personally owned a recurring monthly process with money at the end of it.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel. This is a hard requirement. You will build and audit multi-input calculations and should be comfortable with lookups, nested logic, and pivot tables without working from a template.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a low tolerance for unexplained variances, including small ones.
- Comfort chasing information across an organization. Most of the context you need lives on other teams, and getting it is part of the job.
- Strong written communication. You will explain compensation calculations to people whose income depends on them.
- Working fluency with AI tools and the judgment to know where they help and where they do not. We expect this role to use AI heavily, but every dollar that leaves the company is a human decision.
Nice to have:- Experience in wealth management, financial services, or fintech, particularly with advisor, broker, or producer compensation.
- Experience with commissions or incentive compensation where terms are negotiated individually rather than standardized.
- Experience with Stripe, corporate card platforms, or payroll systems.
- Experience as the first person in a role, building the process behind it rather than inheriting one.
