Standard Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Communications Manager for the Integrated Air & Missile Defense (IAMD) line of business, this position will support communications across a dynamic portfolio of programs as production, customer engagement and national defense priorities continue to accelerate. The Communications lead will be responsible for the line of business' employee communications and will develop and execute content for newsletters, videos and employee meetings. As the IAMD Communications lead, the individual will support and lead integrated communications activities across the portfolio while ensuring consistent, timely deliverables and evaluating communications performance metrics to gain insights for best practices.

Specific responsibilities include:
  • Plan, schedule and maintain regular communications rhythm for the line of business.
  • Execute assigned communications priorities across the IAMD portfolio, ensuring timely, accurate and high-quality deliverables.
  • Support communications activities across PAC-3, THAAD and IAMD Advanced Programs as priorities, customer needs and business demands evolve.
  • Coordinate recurring portfolio communications, including editorial calendars, internal newsletters, All Hands, video projects and other initiatives.
  • Develop, write and edit communications materials for internal and external audiences, including talking points, presentations, articles, social media and other communications products.
  • Support media relations, trade shows, employee communications and other communications activities as needed.
  • Provide flexible communications support across the portfolio, applying communications best practices to address routine and moderately complex needs.
  • Support communications measurement and reporting, tracking key performance indicators and campaign results.
  • Produce quarterly communications performance reports, highlighting results, opportunities and areas for improvement.
  • Identify opportunities to improve communications processes, tools and workflows to increase team efficiency and impact.
  • Contribute to team projects and cross-functional initiatives, collaborating with program and functional partners to address communications needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and have the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance
  • Must have a Bachelors degree or higher in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or related
  • Experience developing and executing Communications strategies and tactics.
  • Demonstrated experience writing effective employee communications.
  • Demonstrated project management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of a complex organization.
  • Experience delivering results when working under competing priorities and tight deadlines.


Desired Skills

  • Experience developing and executing integrated communications plans for complex programs, products or issues.
  • Experience managing media narratives and employee engagement campaigns.
  • Proven attention to detail and sense of urgency.


Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $59900.00 - $111300.00

The salary range for this position is as listed on the requisition. Please note that the salary information listed is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market(work location) and business considerations when extending an offer.

  • Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
