Position Summary
Q2IMPACT is seeking a creative, proactive, and collaborative Communications & Engagement Lead to support both corporate communications and a high-profile Department of Defense Knowledge Management (KM) initiative. This role is ideal for an early- to mid-career communications professional who enjoys storytelling, digital communications, stakeholder engagement, and user-centered design.
The successful candidate will split their time between strengthening Q2IMPACT's corporate brand and supporting strategic communications for a Department of Defense knowledge management platform. They will develop compelling content, manage digital communication channels, engage stakeholders, and help drive awareness and adoption of innovative knowledge-sharing solutions.
The ideal candidate is a fast learner with an entrepreneurial mindset who enjoys solving communication challenges creatively. They understand how people consume information, what motivates different audiences, and how to deliver the right message through the right channel at the right time.
Key Responsibilities
Corporate Communications & Marketing
- Develop and execute company-wide strategic communications and marketing plans aligned with Q2IMPACT's business objectives, brand positioning, and strategic priorities.
- Advise senior leadership on communications strategy, including messaging, positioning, and narrative development.
- Draft high-quality internal and external communications, including announcements, newsletters, executive talking points, employee communications, and marketing materials that reflect Q2IMPACT's institutional voice.
- Maintain and continuously improve Q2IMPACT's website to support business development, recruitment, and overall market presence.
- Manage Q2IMPACT's LinkedIn presence by:
- Developing and maintaining a content calendar
- Writing and scheduling posts
- Reporting on audience growth and performance
- Produce compelling, brand-aligned content, including social media posts, graphics, blogs, employee spotlights, and thought leadership pieces.
- Monitor communications analytics and recommend data-driven improvements to content strategy and audience engagement.
- Serve as Q2IMPACT's internal subject matter expert on marketing and communications best practices, advising leadership, business development, and program teams.
- Support the development of thought leadership products-including white papers, conference materials, presentations, blogs, and articles-in partnership with technical staff.
- Support planning, promotion, and amplification of the Impact Point Podcast, including promotional copy, social media campaigns, and cross-platform distribution.
Department of Defense Knowledge Management Communications
- Support strategic communications efforts for a Department of Defense Knowledge Management portal, helping drive user awareness, adoption, and sustained engagement.
- Develop user-centered communications campaigns that promote portal launches, new capabilities, feature updates, and ongoing adoption.
- Apply UI/UX principles to evaluate how portal content and functionality are experienced by users and recommend improvements that enhance usability and engagement.
- Design and facilitate stakeholder engagement activities, including focus groups, workshops, interviews, and surveys to gather user insights.
- Analyze and synthesize stakeholder feedback into actionable recommendations that inform communications strategy and future portal enhancements.
- Draft communications materials including campaign messaging, announcements, promotional content, quick-reference guides, and launch materials.
- Support development and execution of multi-channel outreach campaigns across email, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and other collaboration platforms.
- Build, maintain, and update intuitive, visually engaging SharePoint pages that improve information accessibility and user experience.
- Coordinate closely with government stakeholders, technical teams, instructional designers, and knowledge management specialists to ensure communications are accurate, timely, and aligned with long-term client objectives.
- Develop creative approaches for engaging users, encouraging feedback, and fostering an active knowledge-sharing community around the portal.
RequirementsRequired Qualifications
- Active Secret security clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Human-Centered Design, Organizational Communication, or a related field.
- 3-6 years of professional experience in communications, strategic communications, public affairs, marketing, or digital engagement.
- Experience developing communications plans and executing multi-channel communications campaigns.
- Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences.
- Experience managing organizational social media accounts, particularly LinkedIn.
- Experience maintaining websites using common content management systems.
- Familiarity with SharePoint and Microsoft 365 collaboration tools.
- Experience creating visual communications using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design platforms.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Department of Defense, federal civilian agencies, or other government clients.
- Familiarity with knowledge management, organizational learning, or digital collaboration platforms.
- Experience conducting stakeholder research, user interviews, surveys, or focus groups.
- Understanding of human-centered design, user experience (UX), and change management principles.
- Experience with communications analytics tools, SEO, and digital marketing metrics.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform or basic SharePoint page design.
- Experience supporting executive communications or strategic thought leadership initiatives.
