About the Role:

The Commodity Manager will lead the supplier relationship management, negotiate contracts, monitor market trends, and implement procurement strategies to optimize the mechanical supply.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Forecast and strategically source mechanical supply
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure continuity of supply
  • Hold quarterly business reviews with suppliers at their location
  • Negotiate agreements to secure competitive pricing and favorable payment terms
  • Monitor market trends, price fluctuations, and global supply conditions to identify risks and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Collaborate with Legal and Procurement to review and finalize contract terms, ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies
  • Manage copper inventory levels to meet demand while minimizing excess inventory
  • Analyze procurement data, market trends, and supplier performance metrics to identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams to support new product development initiatives and ensure materials meet specifications and quality standards
  • Lead, train, and mentor the supply chain team
  • Place purchase orders as required
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of commodity management
  • Experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system (SAP or Epicor)
  • Intermediate level Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to make successful presentations to Senior Leadership
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure maintaining a customer-focused mindset
  • Must be able to travel domestically and abroad

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience or knowledge in switch gear or other power distribution equipment
  • Experience with industrial breakers
  • Experience with sheet metal commodity management
  • Project management experience

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to twenty-five pounds at times.
  • Prolonged periods sitting, standing, walking, and performing repetitive tasks.
  • Must have vision correctable to 20/20 and be able to wear required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, boots, gloves, etc.).

Work Environment:
May work in various settings at the Maverick Power facilities, in offices, in multiple shops, and in commercial buildings. Maintaining the same position or posture while performing tasks and sitting for prolonged periods.
