Your Opportunity

Stantec's Commissioning & Building Performance team helps clients ensure their building systems perform as intended from day one and throughout the building lifecycle. As a Commissioning / Validation Specialist, you will support the delivery of high-quality commissioning services by assisting with system testing, performance verification, and documentation for mechanical and HVAC systems. You will collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, contractors, and owners to help confirm systems meet the Owner's Project Requirements (OPR) and Basis of Design (BOD).

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the commissioning and validation of HVAC and mechanical building systems across a variety of project types
  • Support the planning and execution of functional performance testing activities
  • Review and analyze test data, including airflow, temperature, pressure, and system responses, to verify performance
  • Participate in troubleshooting system performance issues and coordinating corrective actions with the project team
  • Assist in tracking and documenting commissioning deficiencies and resolutions
  • Maintain organized commissioning records, logs, and test documentation
  • Contribute to the preparation of commissioning reports, including functional test results and system observations
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including designers, contractors, and owners throughout project delivery

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Working knowledge of HVAC systems, Building mechanical equipment and Building automation systems (BAS)
  • Familiarity with commissioning processes, functional performance testing, and building performance verification
  • Ability to interpret technical data, drawings, specifications, and system documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to document findings clearly and accurately
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work across multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency with standard office and reporting software; commissioning software experience is an asset

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Systems, or a related discipline preferred
  • 3 or more years of related experience
  • Related experience in commissioning, validation, HVAC systems, or building performance preferred
  • Equivalent combinations of education and related experience will be considered

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
