Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible for the overall execution and delivery of all commissioning activities for assigned projects. You will also provide leadership for the Commissioning Technical Lead I and II team members, establish project commissioning strategy, direct execution across all commissioning disciplines, and will be accountable for project quality, safety, schedule, client satisfaction, and successful operational turnover. Lastly, you will serve as the primary commissioning representative for the project and ensures all stakeholders, subcontractors, vendors, and commissioning personnel are aligned to achieve successful project delivery.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all commissioning activities from project inception through final operational turnover, ensuring compliance with project specifications, contractual requirements, industry standards, and Haskell commissioning procedures.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the overall commissioning execution strategy, including schedule integration, startup sequencing, system turnover planning, and commissioning resource allocation.
  • Provide direct leadership, coaching, mentoring, and performance management for all assigned Commissioning Technical Lead I and Commissioning Technical Lead II personnel.
  • Serve as the primary commissioning representative and point of contact for clients, project leadership, design teams, subcontractors, OEMs, vendors, testing agencies, and operations personnel throughout the commissioning and startup process.
  • Establish project commissioning priorities and direct daily commissioning activities to ensure quality, safety, schedule adherence, and successful project execution.
  • Review drawings, specifications, Basis of Design, Sequence of Operations, submittals, and product data to validate system readiness and ensure compliance with commissioning requirements.
  • Oversee and approve commissioning documentation, inspection reports, deficiency logs, functional performance testing, startup documentation, and turnover packages to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Direct the coordination of subcontractors, OEM startup personnel, controls contractors, TAB agencies, NETA testing firms, and third-party commissioning resources to support project milestones and system readiness.
  • Own commissioning schedule integration with construction activities, proactively identifying risks, resolving conflicts, and implementing recovery plans to maintain project commitments.
  • Lead commissioning planning meetings, startup meetings, turnover meetings, and commissioning status reviews to maintain alignment between all project stakeholders.
  • Maintain overall accountability for the commissioning readiness, operational reliability, and successful turnover of all building systems and infrastructure.
  • Identify technical, schedule, quality, and safety risks that may impact commissioning activities, develop mitigation strategies, and communicate project impacts to leadership and clients in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all commissioning activities are executed in accordance with project safety requirements and Haskell safety policies while promoting a strong safety culture across the commissioning team.
  • Review and approve project commissioning deliverables, verify completion of contractual commissioning obligations, and ensure all documentation supports successful owner acceptance and occupancy.
  • Monitor project commissioning performance metrics, staffing requirements, productivity, and quality to ensure successful execution across multiple commissioning disciplines.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Commissioning to continuously improve commissioning standards, best practices, training programs, and execution processes across the organization.
  • Support business development activities by providing technical expertise during project pursuits, proposal development, client presentations, and project planning efforts when requested.
  • Travel up to 80%

 

Education & Years of Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in any engineering field and 8-10 years of experience in commissioning preferred, or a combination of education and experience.

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
