DLR Group has an opening for a Commissioning Authority to join our growing team.

Our Smart Buildings team has an opening for a Commissioning Authority to join our growing team in the following cities:
  • Minneapolis, MN
  • Washington D.C.
  • Orlando, FL
  • Charlotte, NC
  • Dallas, TX
  • Fort Worth, TX

Position Summary

In this position, you will be supporting commissioning activities for multiple high-profile, national and international Commissioning projects across DLR Group's core sectors including Workplace, Federal, Education, Hospitality, Healthcare, Justice & Civic, Mixed-Use and more. You will work with these integrated design teams of Architects, Engineers and specialty designers, providing commissioning expertise

As a Commissioning Authority, you will frequently travel to job sites to perform construction reviews, functional testing, and building performance diagnostics. Expect to be traveling approximately 30-50% of your time in a typical month. In this role there is potential for rapid growth opportunities as we expand our Smart Buildings team.

The successful candidate will:
  • Review design and construction documents for compliance with Owner's Project Requirements and Basis of Design
  • Develop commissioning plans, specifications, pre-functional checklists, and functional performance tests.
  • Perform site inspections and functional testing to verify system installation and operations
  • Collaborate with contractors, owners, occupants, and operators to identify improvements on building operations.
  • Identify, track, and resolve issues impacting system performance.
  • Provide feedback to design teams to ensure optimal design strategies.

Required Qualifications:
  • +7 years of hands-on experience in commissioning building systems
  • Strong knowledge of the building design and construction industry, with familiarity in the commissioning process for new construction, major renovations, and existing buildings
  • Understanding of energy use, indoor environmental quality, operations, and maintenance in building commissioning
  • Familiarity with MEP and building automation systems, with the ability to evaluate and test system performance
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, along with strong organizational and computer skills.
  • Possess a sense of self-direction and the ability to manage your own time.
  • Must be able to climb structures and inspect equipment both at high altitudes and in confined spaces

Preferred Qualifications
  • Commissioning certification from a recognized body (ACG, BCA, or ASHRAE)
  • Licensed Professional Engineer or Trade Worker
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field

The suggested pay range for this position is:

Pay Range

$84,700-$144,430 USD

DLR Group follows a four-day in-office work model, with employees having the flexibility to work somewhere other than the office on Fridays.
