Full Job Description
Summary:

Oversee and manage the Commercial Loan Dept for the Commercial Bank. Managerial responsibilities for a team of 10+ Closing Representatives (plus ancillary staff) and two Supervisors - including overseeing staffing, scheduling, training, performance evaluations, etc. Performs initial review of title commitments ensuring that all document exceptions are cleared prior to closing. Assign loan closings and post-closing activities to staff. Monitors workflow to ensure all work is completed accurately and within established time frames. Reviews processes and procedures and recommend changes and improvements. Senior level SME for Lenders, Closers and Operations to rely on.

Job Responsibilities:

Commercial Closing Oversight & Pipeline Management

  • Oversee and manage the commercial closing pipeline and ensure closing documents are accurate and all exceptions have been cleared. Ensure transactions are efficiently distributed and processed in a timely manner. Provides support and guidance to the commercial closing staff. Resolves any unusual or complex problems.


Post-closing Operations & Staff Supervision

  • Oversee all post-closing related activities such as receipt of all required recorded documentation, title policies and completion of collateral files. Exercises the usual authority of a supervisor, including staffing, scheduling, training, discipline, performance appraisals, and salary recommendations.


Workflow Monitoring

  • Monitor workflow to ensure all work is completed accurately and within established time frames.
  • Resolves any unusual or complex problems.


Closing Report Review

  • Reviews monthly closing reports and pipeline. Works with Commercial Closing Supervisor on follow-up procedures for past due items. This includes:
    • Loans to One Borrower
    • Attorney Closed Loan Report
    • Laser Pro Reports
    • Documentation Exception Report


Regulatory Compliance

  • Maintains current knowledge of agency guidelines, state and federal laws governing commercial closings for New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.
  • Ensures that the Bank's closing policies and procedures are in compliance with all governmental regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Communicates regulatory and procedural changes to staff.


Process Improvement

  • Recommend changes and more efficient methods of departmental procedures to Senior Management with systems specialists and the IS Department to implement changes to the origination system for the Closing/Post Closing functions.

  • Performs other job-related duties as may be assigned or required.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree;
  • Minimum 5 years of management experience;
  • Minimum 5 years of Commercial Lending experience.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing a team of ten or more staff;
  • Knowledge/experience working with Salesforce & nCino.


Core Competencies/Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Commercial Loan documentation (i.e. Commitment Letter, Loan Note, Certificate of Formation, Title Documents, Beneficial Ownership, Insurance Policies, etc.);
  • Working knowledge and understanding of insurance requirements (liability, hazard, flood) for commercial loans;
  • Skilled in reviewing and interpreting Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) Finance Statements, Federal and State tax lien search results, Bankruptcy and Judgement search results;
  • Ability to communicate and interact with employees at all organizational levels;
  • Results oriented with a proven track record to motivate self and others to accomplish objectives;
  • Excellent organizational, follow-up, and time management skills;
  • Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
