Senior Commercial Litigation Attorney (Title IX & Education)

New York, NY

Our client is seeking a Senior Associate or Counsel to join its Commercial Litigation practice in New York with a concentration in Title IX and Education Law. This unique opportunity is ideal for an experienced litigator who is passionate about representing educational institutions, administrators, faculty, and students in high-profile, sensitive matters involving higher education, civil rights, and internal investigations.

The successful candidate will work with a collaborative team handling complex litigation, investigations, hearings, and advisory matters for colleges, universities, independent schools, and other educational institutions.

Responsibilities
  • Represent educational institutions and clients in matters involving Title IX investigations, hearings, and appeals.
  • Advise clients on student and faculty disciplinary proceedings, academic misconduct matters, and institutional compliance.
  • Conduct internal investigations involving allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and misconduct.
  • Handle litigation involving education law, civil rights claims, defamation, constitutional issues, and related commercial disputes.
  • Counsel clients on compliance with federal and state education laws, including Title IX and other civil rights regulations.
  • Draft motions, pleadings, legal memoranda, investigative reports, and appellate briefs.
  • Participate in administrative proceedings, mediations, hearings, depositions, and court appearances.
  • Develop litigation strategy and manage cases from inception through resolution.
  • Mentor junior attorneys and collaborate across multiple practice groups as needed.
