What You'll DoRisk Evaluation & Decision-Making- Evaluate and make underwriting decisions on commercial P&C submissions primarily BOP, with exposure to GL, Commercial Property, and Commercial Auto
- Apply MGT's underwriting guidelines to assess risk quality, class eligibility, coverage structure, and pricing appropriateness
- Identify risks that fall outside standard appetite and escalate referrals with a clear, well-reasoned recommendation
- Review renewal accounts for changes in risk profile, loss history, and continued eligibility
- Manage an active book of business with accuracy, speed, and appropriate documentation
Broker & Distribution Support- Respond to broker submissions, coverage questions, and quote requests in a timely and professional manner
- Build and maintain productive working relationships with MGT's appointed broker and wholesale partners
- Communicate underwriting decisions clearly - including declinations - with reasoning that helps brokers understand MGT's appetite
- Support Distribution in onboarding new agents and answering appetite and eligibility questions
Underwriting Quality & Continuous Improvement- Maintain high underwriting quality: accurate documentation, consistent application of guidelines, and defensible decision rationale
- Participate in file reviews, underwriting audits, and team calibration sessions
- Flag patterns or edge cases that suggest guideline gaps or appetite questions - and bring them to the Underwriting Lead
- Engage actively with MGT's technology platform including Athena AI underwriting agent, policy admin system, and quoting tools as a core part of the daily workflow
Learning & Development- Build technical depth across MGT's lines of business through mentorship, file review, and direct exposure to complex risks
- Participate in underwriting training, coverage education, and team knowledge-sharing sessions
- Work toward broader underwriting authority and expanded responsibility over time
What We're Looking For- 3-6 years of commercial P&C underwriting experience
- Carrier or MGA underwriting, small commercial or BOP experience strongly preferred
- Solid foundation in commercial P&C underwriting including BOP structure, class eligibility, basic coverage components, and risk assessment fundamentals
- Experience working within underwriting guidelines and referral frameworks in a carrier or MGA environment
- Comfort managing a book of submissions with accuracy and appropriate prioritization
- Familiarity with ISO forms and standard policy language a strong plus
- Exposure to broker/agent distribution and the dynamics of a quote-and-bind platform helpful
- Openness to working in a technology-forward environment with AI-assisted tools and modern systems

CompensationBase Salary: $80,000 - $125,000, commensurate with experience and location
