Full Job Description
The primary function of this role is to drive profitable growth, strengthen agency relationships, and successfully manage a book of business in our New Hampshire territory. The position is responsible for evaluating new and renewal business in accordance with the company's underwriting practices. Candidate will be hired at the appropriate level based on experience
Key Responsibilities:
• Evaluates new and renewal business. Makes profitable individual risk selection/judgments/recommendations within authority, based on Arbella's underwriting philosophies and guidelines.
• Ability to review and accurately process endorsement requests
• Maintain accurate underwriting documentation and information to meet underwriting guidelines and authority
• Effectively manage a book of business within the underwriting territory to provide excellent service to our agents, and meet company financial objectives
• Provides timely, courteous and efficient service regarding underwriting and related matters to internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to effectively communicate the company appetite, products, and guidelines to our agents
• Build and develop agency relationships with visits (in-person and virtual). Leverage agency relationships to help with company growth and retention initiatives.
• Collaborate with Marketing to help manage the assigned underwriting territory
• Through ongoing education and training, maintain current skills and increase professional development of underwriting skills and additional lines of business. Staying current on market conditions and industry trends is critical.
• Ability to work independently in identifying risk/exposure, negotiating pricing, and understanding coverage
Key Requirements:
• 2+ years related experience
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
• Insurance education/designations preferred
• Strong understanding of insurance industry practices, underwriting principles, and risk evaluation across complex accounts
• Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills
• Strong relationship building and negotiation skills
• Ability to work within our New Hampshire office and travel to agents
Our current reasonable and good faith estimate of the annual salary wage range for this position is approximately $70,000 to $80,000 CL Underwriter and $80,000 to $100,000 Sr. CL Underwriter based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience, educational background and certifications, performance and qualifications, market demand for the role and other organizational needs.
